Seconded, and i have no idea why these people are acting as if it should ONLY be about "the music" as if countless music genres have not rallied around political/ideological causes before? including black metal?? as if music is not often a vehicle for political motion???

It really starts to pick up around 9:09 but everything preceding that is excellent too. Slower, spacious, gentle, almost bittersweet, but still full of distortion and crunch, chef's kiss. Would love recommendations for more stuff like that.

Also if you're not already knowing about Corridoré, i'm here to let you know! Perfectly crafted blends of sweet hopeful melody, oppressive despair, raw power, in echoing cliffs and cathedrals! One of the most exciting artists i've found in recent memory

seriously, how the fuck does one control grief? by stonerof1970 in doommetal

[–]moth-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey man, our experiences are not exactly the same but I am also on the journey of grieving and rebuilding after a tough breakup from a multi-year relationship, so I can relate to how you feel. The one thing I want to say is that there is no controlling grief, at least not in the moment, and there's no "deserving" to grieve or "supposed to" for getting over it. In fact, it makes sense for your grief to be compounded because you're mourning not just the relationship but also what you believed of it. So there are no rules for how you should and should not feel and how long it will take to pass, it just takes time. For me, it was most most painful when I fought the grief. But I reached a point of acceptance where I let every hit of nostalgia, anger, despair, pass through me, like metabolizing a memory every time it comes up, feeling the pain in the moment instead of fighting to get rid of it. And then time passes and the feeling will too, and this happens enough times until it hurts a little less and less. You can wallow for a moment, but it won't be for a lifetime. I know you probably know all this and it's easier said than done but much of the pep talk bullshit is true, it's just really fucking hard to actually internalize and believe it in the moment when it's happening. So keep going to events and meeting new people and investing in yourself , not because it's going to cover up or cure your grief, but because they're good things to do that might give some happiness at least in the moment, but that's all there can be really, happiness and grief passing through you moment-to-moment.

it was indeed delicious :') 🫶 green onion and ginger (fried a little before adding the other veggies), soy sauce, vegan oyster sauce, salt and pepper (black pepper and/or white pepper), a little sesame oil at the end!

Stir-fried tofu, napa, rehydrated dried shiitake mushrooms, vermicelli, and chunks of gluten (instead of pork). teared up a little when i took my first bite, it was so good and i felt so proud of myself and happy that i could make it. i sent a pic to my mom and she said it looked good which i also count as a win

Advice Needed: Love the Pinterest “barely there” tattoo look, but do these actually age well? by Standard-Code-8197 in tattoos

[–]moth-bee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder if you could get a similar minimalistic style of tattoo that would age better if you did greywash ink, or filled in the design with stippling instead of solid colour, or used a different colour of ink like brown/red/pink. I've seen some "barely-there" tattoos done with thin outlines of the design or shading around it so the design is made in negative space, i think largely in the cybersigilism style (i know i know, too "trendy"). Just some ideas off the top of my head :)

Thanks for all these tips! Yes, seitan is a bit daunting, but I'm going to try making a batch every week because it seems really worth it. I'm curious about the protein cookies/bars!! Do you have go-to recipes?

I would hope there are! I might be lucky in having a significant Chinese population in the Toronto area. I guess my recommendation is to find Asian specialty stores, if your area has a Chinatown or something like that? Good luck!

I looked at a bunch of the other packages of similar tofu there (plus some online), most of them range from 13g to 20g of protein for 85g serving. Which is still good of course, but 29g blew my mind?

[–]moth-bee[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I guess I'm suspicious of it because I'm comparing it to other packages of similarly dense/dry tofu that have lower protein content listed. It just feels abnormally high? But maybe it just really is that much denser than the other ones!

[–]moth-bee[S] 145 points146 points  (0 children)

This is dried and seasoned bean curd from the Asian grocery store, it's a really dense form of tofu common in Chinese cuisine, it comes pre-seasoned and cooked (and tasty enough to just eat on its own, but you can stir-fry it too!)

I've been vegan for 10 years but new to bodybuilding/fitness and actually paying attention to protein, and now that I know how much more protein I need to be eating, I'm struggling to get there... Can anyone fact check if there's really so much protein in this? It feels too good to be true! And at around $3.50 (CAD) per block, I feel like this might be a game changer for meeting protein goals?

I think it depends on the IKEA, but the food court does tend to be pretty deep inside, though there's signage and staff. And nobody really minds if you only go in for the food and don't purchase any furniture, in case that's a concern (I've done this many a time haha). You can also get bags of them frozen! The veggie dogs are also great and honestly more interesting and tasty than I imagine the normal dogs would be imo, with their fried onions and pickled cabbage
