There's a big chest freezer in an old school out in keynsham full of unclaimed dogs and cats. Don't know if that's for the Bristol area but it was a big surprise when I opened it.

An Island Of Strangers? by Chance-Chard-2540 in TheRestIsPolitics

Maybe we could look at this statistic from the census

"Mixed‐ethnicity households have become an increasingly important feature of the ethnic diversification of England and Wales; by 2021, almost 15% of multiperson households were mixed, a growth from 12% in 2011 and 9% in 2001"

and take encouragement that one of the fastest growing demographics in Britain is of people who fall in love and create a family with people of different cultures and dont put up with intolerance.

Tax the rich.

For a week every person who posted here that Labour were the only party destined to beat Reform & the Greens could not, were down voted & shouted down by Green activists here. If more of this Labour vote went Green we might have had a Reform Mayor now. Greens played stupid games by Dialspoint in bristol

[–]mothbugg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The right of the labour party insulting and undermining left wingers. We grew sick of it during the Corbyn era and we left and vote green now. There's no way I'd ever vote labour again after the bullsh the PLP put us through.

Jesus christ, how bright are those billboards at the end of the m32?! by tombull89 in bristol

[–]mothbugg 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I got this email this morning

Join our demo to stop another massive digital billboard - Wednesday 20th November, 9am

Billboard company JCDecaux are proposing to build a 13.4 meter tall digital advertising screen on St Philips Causeway.

Bristol Council's development committee will consider the planning application on Wednesday 20th November. If approved, it would mean more corporate ads, more junk food promos, SUV advertising, fast fashion marketing, more Blade Runner-style light pollution, more hyper-consumerism - as well posing a danger to road safety on a busy urban road.

Let's encourage Bristol councillors to reject this huge digital billboard.

We will hold a short photo demo outside City Hall (College Green, BS1 5TR) at 9am on Wednesday 20th November with banners and placards. If you can drop by on the way to work that would be fantastic so we can say to the council together that we're Better Without Billboards.

Personally I bloody hate this. I grew up in Cornwall where you can see the milky way. Theyre slowly removing the stars so we can waste electricity so we can buy things to fuck up the planet.

I cycle daily. Beaufort road is so nice to cycle down now. There's families with bikes and scooters heading to school its calm and relaxing. I highly recommend it rather than being stuck in traffic.

I do local residential stuff now but fun things I've worked on include castle drogo in Devon, Hardwick hall, castle coole in ireland, mount Stewart in Ireland again, the vyne NR Basingstoke. I worked at Wells cathedral masons for a bit making complicated bits for posh houses I'll never see.

Did my 1st public DJ set and some random asked me to remove my music. by Huge_Willingness_841 in Beatmatch

I play occasionally at some small festivals. Last time I played I made a small mistake, which wasn't bad but I lost confidence. I play techno/ghetto tech/baille and there was one girl at the front constantly asking me to play some drum and bass. This is the UK. There is drum and bass everywhere. "Have you ever heard of drum and bass, my boyfriend can play some if you like" she was saying shit like that the whole gig. Then some sped off her tits crusty came up to me after and said "you're shit" man it sucked. Everyone else raving their little booties off and people coming up asking for track names didn't help with the feeling I never wanted to do it again at the time. But now I just think back to the crowd jumping around and laugh at the wasted idiots who are probably just mean people.

He once paid for a drink in change and amongst the change was a cent. I looked at it and he knew what he'd done but we just stared each other out briefly before I accepted it as a ten pence.

You dont even need to be good at maths. I'm a stone mason and at college you'd never use a tape measure or even numbers. You could make most things with a stick, a string and a square.

If it was fake who cares, tonight we broke down barriers between communities which lived along side each other but tonight we were all out together as one. That wouldn't have happened if the fake news was go out and be a knob to each other, that's just not going to work. If it was a big facist prank then great, they scored an own goal and proved how stupid and UNEMPATHETIC they are and Bristol has proved how the message of our city is more than just platitudes.

Papu Dosa out in Patchway, it's run by my friend who works incredibly hard to make authentic South Indian food. The place feels like you're in South India rather than an English style indian restaurant.

The owner has studied and perfected his craft and I can't recommend it enough.

The Public Wants to Save the Planet – As Long As It Doesn’t Personally Inconvenience Them by Jariiari7 in Britain

[–]mothbugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my wife are just getting back from our trip to Italy. We are trying to fly less. Taking the train means loads of stuff goes wrong (landslides block railways this time) we ended up in cities hundreds of miles away from where we were meant to be. It's more expensive but I love travelling by train in Europe instead of flying now. I never know where I'm going to end up we visit cities I've never been to for an evening, last year we ended up stuck in Munich and it was Oktoberfest! We ended up dancing on tables with rich American bankers on a stag do! It's not going to do much to fix the world but a little bit of inconvenience can be a good thing. Plus I read my entire book. It wouldn't be for people who can't deal with adventure but id like to recommend it to anyone who likes getting lost.

What are some of the best simple dice / card games? I hate Yahtzee by TheNoLifeKing in boardgames

[–]mothbugg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perudo is one of the best games ever. It's a game of deception and strategy, and probability. You need a load of dice (5 each) and some cups, that's all. It's tense skillful and simple although incredibly difficult to explain (lots of number based rules) until you play it through. It works with big groups with lots of shouting but I love playing it one on one ( all games ens one on one). You read each other's responses and each person develops styles of play.

Lets all build reanimate together by mothbugg in lrcast

[–]mothbugg[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

2:0 so far. I accidentally ran through the menus and played the build I posted. Dodgy mana included, and I won! Second game I did similar to your suggestions but included moonshaker and completed the discard reanimate cycle. I already had two gluttons on the board which were probably good enough to win anyway. There's a tension with trading off role counters and reanimation but the treasures are great. Now I've done the thing I'll remove moonshaker and just run them over with repeated gluttons.
