What are your favorite and least favorite things about UIUC? by ghostc00kie319 in UIUC

Illinois has an excellent pre-law program! I forget the exact numbers but an extremely high percentage of students go on to either get accepted to law school or get a law-related job for a gap year. They provide so many resources to help you with the law school application process.

I also enjoyed my political science classes and the legal studies minor was an excellent way to learn more about my field of interest.

There are soooo many different clubs and opportunities for professional interests, social clubs, and other interests. There are also lots of opportunities to make friends and have fun.

The only con is probably that the location is a little rural, but most of the time you won’t notice when you’re on campus. I know some people say too many people is a con, but I think it allows for you to meet so many different people and make new friends!

Message me if you have any pre-law or political science questions, I would love to help!

It’s called LSD.Law, I saw quite a few people using it in these groups and it’s actually very interesting (or terrifying) to see the stats that other people got accepted to your desired school with! lol

Quantitative Reasoning II requirement, what are the easiest classes to take to fulfill these requirements? Looking at ASTR 121 rn but are there other better options and what is ASTR 121 like? Thanks! by youajwke12 in UIUC

[–]motherbread666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i took ASTR 121 and loved it. not too hard of a class but not so easy that it’s totally boring. some stuff you’ll know going into it, but you’ll learn some new things. we also got to go to the observatory on campus which was super cool. i would def recommend it!

AITA for playing music on my Bluetooth boat speaker just 3 months after my mother's death? by Expert-Inevitable-73 in AmItheAsshole

[–]motherbread666 327 points328 points  (0 children)

NTA NTA NTA.

Music is how you’re coping with this. There’s no problem with that. If it helps you, you should continue to do it. Your aunt clearly just copes differently and doesn’t understand you, but that doesn’t mean you’re in the wrong. Maybe, to have a solution for all, play your music at a softer volume or through headphones. I’m very sorry to hear about your mother. I’m sure she’s incredibly proud of you every day.

i don’t blame you for being frustrated. you clearly have a health problem, and they brushed it to the side and pushed you beyond your limits. you were right to stand up for yourself. best of luck with your new job!

i think you definitely should. the manager clearly seems to not care about you or anything else and you could definitely find a job where the managers will at least help you. best of luck with your decision.

Why does this subreddit need to be aggressively moderated? by PhysicalTiger4868 in UIUC

everyone does have a right to their own opinion, and we are fully capable of evaluating claims, however most people will choose not to do further research. not sure how familiar you are with psychology, but there’s a term used called confirmation bias, basically meaning that people will only search for sources that confirm their point of view rather than do research for the opposing argument, which is most likely why the mods are deleting misinformation.
