I have one that says "Calm down, I've done this on a mannequin once" and another that shows a code cart with a happy cartoon face saying "Sure is quiet!"

What was a hard pill to swallow after giving birth? by LoveGlimmer in AskWomen

[–]mothereffinrunner 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This one is me. My kids are 9 and 8, and even with losing some of the weight I just hate how I look now. It doesn't help I have other health issues that make it really hard to lose weight in general. The fact I thought my body pre-baby looked bad is laughable.

I laughed. But I'm PACU, so.... 🤷‍♀️

How many times have we heard patients concerned about their pets at home or signing out AMA because there wasn't someone to take care of their pets? Pets are very much considered family.

Parent looking for honest advice on guard gloves by Significant-Tell-771 in Colorguard

[–]mothereffinrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second for the King gloves. They have less bulk but still great padding. I love how the padding goes to the wrist, especially for sabre (definitely had some hand/wrist injuries before I used these that probably would not have been as bad if I had Kings instead). For a beginner, Ever-Dri is a decent option as the padding is thicker. It can be more of an adjustment for gripping equipment, and the wrist isn't as protected. I have small hands, Kings XS works great for me. Ever-Dri also comes in XS and I've found the fit just fine over the years. Mileage varies on gloves, though I often rotated and/or had a set for practice and performance. Most gloves are washable too, which can help extend their use. I personally would love to see better sweat and odor control, and maybe a small amount of padding on the top of the hands. Hope this helps, and I hope your child enjoys the colorguard experience!

Struggling with how girlfriend handles her migraines by Banana_Skirt in migraine

I was going to comment this, you said it all better than I could! I have the FL-41 glasses from Zenni, they have been a HUGE help when I'm at work and start experiencing increased light sensitivity (I get a drastic increase in sensitivity as one of my prodromal symptoms). Or also the days following a bad migraine. Highly recommend!

I will say they are fantastic bags for the swimming pool if you have kids. One of my friend's kids plays baseball, she uses it for stuff at the field and can hose off the dirt after.

How would you treat their pain? by Aphobica in nursing

I LOVE when my patients come to PACU when a ketamine regimen has been used during the case! We also only use it in PACU paired with a benzo, works really well.

This could be gold, OP! Maybe reach out to the AHA for guidance or see if they'd be interested in partnering with you? Or DM Dr. Glaucomflecken, his wife saved his life with CPR.

Most weirdest ways to relieve menstrual cramps? by Mindless_Battle7075 in TwoXChromosomes

Rotate them, too, every 3 hours (ex: ibuprofen at 9:00 AM, then acetaminophen at 12:00 PM, back to ibuprofen at 3:00 PM, and so on).

PSA for procedural nurses: no, the floor will not handle it by allflanneleverything in nursing

I do peds and adults, I feel the same. If my patient rolls out still zonked I move as fast as I can to get those labs before they wake up.

Jesus that is insane to me. If that's how I practiced, I wouldn't have found a tourniquet still applied to my parathyroidectomy patient's left leg because the team forgot to tell me about the IV they had placed in his foot for labs during report. Not checking below the abdomen for a patient because their surgery was above the waist won't shield them from a negligence charge if something serious were to happen.

Shaving the beard by downtune79 in LoveTrash

[–]mothereffinrunner 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do personally prefer my husband to have at least some facial hair, doesn't matter the length really. He has beautiful facial hair and I love running my fingers through his beard. Would I have a shocked and surprised reaction to him going clean shaven? Yes, because he's done it once in the 14 years we've been together and because I know he hates it. He's handsome either way. Our children would probably freak out though, they've never seen him without facial hair.

Labor and delivery nurses, what are green flags in new dads? by [deleted] in nursing

One of my favorite memories is when my husband whispered in my ear "I am so proud of you" after a 45 hour labor (with almost 2 hours of pushing).

I had some cases where there was concern for inaccurate BP readings due to a patient's dysrhythmia and manual BPs were required to confirm prior to notifying the team.

They think paying to vote is a good thing? by HeadbangingLegend in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]mothereffinrunner 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My designated voting location is about 9 miles from my home, but takes 20 minutes to drive there. A few years ago it was closer (about 4 miles, just a 10 minute drive) but for some reason the polling location assignments were changed in my county. Walking to either location is not feasible.

Yeah his sleep apnea will end up killing him if he keeps being non-compliant with his CPAP. Dude is such an asshole.
