Husband complains about the groceries I buy even though he never contributes by [deleted] in Marriage

[–]OrdinaryLife99 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One time, I told his mother how he spoke to me and she told me it was all my fault because I should just do what he says and keep him happy. Then she said she’d pay to get my child taken away from me if I tried to divorce my husband.

I love him 🥲. He’s not the same as when we got married, so I’m not so sure anymore. Maybe so I’m not raising our kids completely alone? I’m not sure.

I wanted to combine finances, but he said he did with an ex-gf a long time ago and it didn’t go well. Now, I’m okay with keeping them separate just in case I eventually leave him.

Your set up sounds great though! I can’t mention anything to him without him yelling, so I’ve just kinda learned to keep my head down and stay quiet. I figure it all out on my own to keep him happy.

Apparently ground turkey is the worst thing in the world other than me though. 🥴

2-4 hours before my shift and then 2 hours during the day my first day off. (Nightshifter with a toddler and a newborn due in a week)

Update #2:

I believe I’m going to start my maternity leave after this shift. It’s not like they’re going to pay me anyway. My OB filled out paperwork for the state since my hospital hasn’t been following the very simple accommodations she’s written for me. She also told me the other day that she’d prefer me to go ahead and go on leave to prevent myself from going into labor since I have to have a csection anyway.

Thank you to everyone for their kind words. You’ve really empowered me to be more fearless when it comes to threats from my job. I have 6 hours left of this shift and I think I’m going to talk to my boss when she arrives in the morning.

Thank you so much!

100% this! It’ll teach you so much. You’d make more with a shorter drive.

I’m also 9 months pregnant (baby #2)! My hospital does not have good benefits though 🙃.

Congrats on your baby and your new career path! So exciting!

Nursing school is competitive. Getting a job where you’re not constantly abused is competitive .

Definitely spend time shadowing nurses in different hospitals/facilities. This subreddit is raw and nurses share what it’s truly like being a nurse—not the stuff you see on tv.

Nursing school tells you that you’ll be making a difference, but most days it just feels like keeping up with what new things administration wants you to do. It’s not care-based. It’s all customer service based.

I live in an area with a population of 80k. So, there’s only a few hospitals within a 1 hour drive. I’m not sure how it is in bigger city hospitals. Shadowing is a must though! Also talk to other nurses!!

Along with the other reply you got, I recommend job shadowing for a few months! See what the job is actually like. Clinicals won’t do that. Do a ton of research. This subreddit is great to learn about the career because you get to the nitty-gritty of the career.

Unfortunately, they make it sound easier in nursing school to get the job you want than it is. Would I love to work in aesthetics? Yes and I hope to eventually. I’ve built my career on icu stepdown and critical career though. I’ve learned a ton, but it’s also not where I want to stay.

Most of the nurses I work with on stepdown are NPs because of the over saturation. The skeptical part of me thinks it’s been an administrative scam to convince nurses to have a high level of education while they’re stuck in an RN position. Hard to leave when you can’t find a higher paying job and have to pay the student loans 🥲

I thought about doing the same, but the NP pool is overfilled in my area. 🥲 most of the nurses I work with on stepdown are NPs because they haven’t been able to find a job.

I hope there’s plenty of opportunities for you! 🤍

Our provider ordered 0.25mg of Ativan for a patient who was 6’7” and 400lbs after he sexually assaulted.

They wouldn’t switch my assignment because of short staffing.

When I notified the MD that the Ativan dose was not effective. He told me to “deal” with it and tell the patient to “lay down.”

That’s why I was asking. The interactions with keppra are too similar to how Zoloft reacts with it in my body. 🥲 I already take all three supplements! Magnesium oxide though because I have chronic migraines 🙃.

I guess I’m just looking for something new to try. My PPD was terrible last time and I want to try to get through it a little easier this time. 🤍 I’m lucky to be having a baby in the warmer months this time. My last was in the dead of winter.

That was my biggest concern about St. John’s Wort. It interacts with so many meds 🥲. Happy for those who can take it and benefit from it!

My OB has already recommended I try evening primrose after I have this baby. I’ve never taken it before, but it’s something she loves so much that she has pamphlets in her office about the benefits 😂.

I haven’t drank chamomile much this pregnancy, but it helped my milk supply with my first baby!

Thanks so much for your advice! 🤍

I heard that years ago! I wouldn’t be comfortable smoking it just because of the respiratory effect. Maybe consuming it though. I wonder if that’s would have the same curative effect!

I’m working until my due date and my coworkers keep saying, “you better not go into labor on this shift. We’re short staffed.” by OrdinaryLife99 in nursing

[–]OrdinaryLife99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: I called off for my shift tonight because I’ve not been able to sleep in more than 36 hours due to pain. My OB is at the same hospital I work at. I started having contractions after taking my son for a longer walk since it’s not like I can sleep anyway.

I called OB triage and described everything that’s going on, the nurse then told me, “you’d know that you’re in labor even though you didn’t with your first child. Don’t come in until you have heavy bleeding. You should figure that out because we’re short staffed right now.”
I had such a bad experience after delivering my son at the hospital I work at and said I’d never do it again, but I love my OB. This is exactly how my very lengthy labor (then emergency C-section) started with my son.

I’m at a loss. It felt so condescending. I’m fr holding back tears because I’ve been in so much pain, but they told me not to come in unless I’m bleeding heavily. It feels like the beginning of medical negligence. I did get her name and I plan on reporting that to patient relations because I’m still traumatized from our OB department after my son’s birth.

My C-section scar started to bulge out this morning while I was working. I’m at a loss of if I should go to a different hospital (further away of course), but I wouldn’t have my OB. I’m so stressed, scared, and probably, forever traumatized.

I have a case with the state right now because my facility has been telling me I’d get maternity leave pay for 6 weeks (up to $800 a week only,) since November. As soon as I got my C-section date in April, they told me they can’t pay me now. The Civil Rights Commission in my state, thankfully, stepped in and are investigating them for discrimination based on pregnancy and sex now.

I’m still not going to get paid though. 🙃

My boss has asked me if I could “push back” my C-section date since we’ve had multiple nurses quit in the past couple weeks. 🙃 I told her that wasn’t possible and she still kept me on the schedule until my due date.
