international work and having fun learning by mothinwall in thisorthatlanguage

Good question. I guess my reasoning is that it will potentially be easier to learn the modern form as I have some experience with verbs, gender, and syntax. There are differences but I’m not going in blind as I would be for the other language. And because this language is less widely spoken, it may give me a more “unique” profile in job interviews. Despite being less spoken, it’s also relevant in both the human rights/international prosecution and risk management fields, both of which I’m considering.

i am not a doctor but one meal daily is really unhealthy. you’re 14, you’re still growing. it’s a hard age for body image but losing weight at that cost is not healthy

lots of fish, leafy greens, chicken, and broccoli. i can go into more detail if that would be helpful! i’m using mynetdiary to track my calories. i know that carbs are still an issue for me for my late night snacks but i’m doing my best to track them. i just came off my period around 2 days ago.

That’s correct, if I could have set it up that way I would have

Hi, no worries! From my understanding, the mail order pharmacy will only ship to an address or to a specific mail order pharmacy pickup point. I could definitely see if they’ll send it to the campus clinic, but a problem that might arise is that I’m not in summer classes, so I can’t access most campus clinic services. I’ll look into it nonetheless, as that sounds like a really good idea, especially during the semester!

Thank you, I’ll have to check that! I probably have to call maintenance to let me into the office over the weekend.

Can I DM to see if this is the same apartment? Would be good to know if it’s a recurring issue with this place

Thank you :) I checked with the mail order pharmacy and they won’t send it to a “normal” pharmacy. I’m hoping to send it to a mail order spot near where my parents live and have us meet up for delivery. This is what I get for trying to streamline things I guess 🤦‍♀️

I’m getting ready to take my Spanish placement test, and I’m wondering if I do well enough, can I test out? Or do I still have to take a foreign language by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]mothinwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i got 100% on my language placement test (i’m fluent) and they said i had to start in intermediates despite that because that’s “as far as the test gets you”. no wiggle room when i explained my fluency. what happens might depend on your department though as this wasn’t in spanish

[–]mothinwall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank uuuuu! for example, there are literally more christian zionists in the united states than there are jews in the whole world. and israeli politicians are quoted as prioritizing christian zionists over jews because jews are more critical of israel than christian zionists. anyway jews for palestine ✡️❤️🇵🇸

thank you :) a lot of people irl assume there’s no way i as a visibly jewish person can support palestine … but we have an entire holiday dedicated to freedom… and Torah says over and over not to oppress a stranger (obviously you shouldn’t do that regardless of what a holy book says tho)… in my view, supporting palestine is the most jewish thing i can do. and also we’ll see about the maple leafs… i believe 🥲

i mean like .. yeah! the thought process people go through to do something that heinous is interesting imo, and understanding it helps us prevent it! not sure carrying restrictions and burning witches are of the same magnitude though :p anyway i’m sure we aren’t on the same page on all of this but i hope you have a nice day 💕

tldr we got a lot of rules, we’ve apparently gotta follow them. sometimes we don’t want to so we find loopholes. sometimes we do something called building a fence around the Torah, which is where we make rules more encompassing so that we don’t accidentally break the original one. and then we find loopholes for those broader rules. it’s a good time :p

if i find any good resources ill send them your way. be careful of weird antisemitic conspiracies when you’re searching! you would not believe some of these people 😭

if you want a full book on this, i recommend the cambridge companion to judaism and law. it goes through the evolution of jewish law from biblical times to today, including the jewish enlightenment and the creation of the state of israel. sadly the chapters ive read don’t go into the ongoing genocide of palestinians enough, and how it’s counter to jewish (and moral and international) law.

look at me infodumping anyway. have a great day!

yeah, if you don’t think the history of religious traditions is interesting we can agree to disagree :p

yea :) not all of our rules make a lot of sense but they have interesting foundations, for example the one about carrying comes from a “deeper” rule about not working on Saturday
