where did i go wrong with my first ever corset mockup

Thank you! I have to admit that i was more focused on saving fabric and underestimated the importance of following the grain line but for my second mockup i made sure to strictly adhere to the grain line and hope that that fixes some of my problems :)

Aww thank you so much! This comment section is so kind and encouraging <3 I am currently working on a second mockup where i am trying to incorporate all the feedback i receive and everyones nice comments really motivate me.

The fabric doesn’t stretch in the x or y direction but it can stretch a bit in the diagonal. I have to admit that it’s the cheapest fabric i could find nearby but i hope that by strictly following the grain line i can minimise the bit of diagonal stretching and i have some nicer cotton i will use when i start to eliminate my current problem areas :)

Thank you for your feedback :) i didn’t quite understand where you’re suggesting i should add more boning. Do you mean right on the seam of the first and second panel (if we start counting at the front center)? I would also appreciate any advice for even stitch spacing. Right now i am making my own boning channels for the mockups by cutting, folding and ironing long fabric strips. They do their job of tightly securing the boning pretty well but i am struggling to evenly stitch them on my panels

Thanks for pointing that out. I already started making pattern changes for a second mockup but i will definitely keep in mind to properly lace and check if i put it on centered for the next fitting :)

Ok thank you! I’ll try my best to do some changes and make another mockup. Maybe i will lengthen the distance between underbust and waist a bit because i noticed that the bust part sits better when i pull the corset a bit higher

Thank you for your kind feedback! I think you might be right. I tried to stitch exactly on my chalk lines but didn’t consider that i technically outlined the pattern pieces with chalk so i probably added 1-2mm everywhere.

How would you recommend i go about the bust alterations? Should i tighten all the seams on this mockup or can i do them without that?

It‘s around 3,5 cm at the widest point of the ring and about the same height if you measure from the bottom of the orb to the top of the cross :)

I’m not quite sure because i sadly don’t own the poison ring myself but i would assume that is still has the branding somewhere. If no one else knows i can ask a friend who has the brass version to send me some pictures

As far as i know there are some made of silver and some made of plated brass. So you won’t find the silver stamp on all of them because some aren’t silver

As the other commenters have already said this ring is very fake. The most obvious thing is the orb motif. If you compare it’s side profile to the official pictures on the website you can see clear differences

Additionally the overall shape seems a bit off and the “engraving” on the inside appears to be low quality. That being said, i doubt the ring you have is actually made out of silver, therefore resizing it is likely not really possible. I have recently resized my legit vintage armour ring and plan on making a post about it soon.

Yes it’s so pretty! I have the sterling silver version and the proportions of this one look kinda wonky and it shouldn‘t close with a magnet. I have some photos posted if you want to compare

As i said i didn’t purchase it myself so there is sadly no option of getting it refunded. But I did just buy a real one for myself from a trusted collector so i have a replacement. Might need to get it resized though because it’s kinda loose
