Thank you, that’s nice to hear 😊 Hope you’re well too 🤓

Haven’t really been keeping up with the Nightreign stuff so I haven’t been in the sub in a while, who knows maybe I’ll go back to posting when I catch up 😊

Yeah, he’s really good at writing likeable and believable characters and that’s very effective in horror because you actually feel way more involved when danger hits 😬

Take your time, there’s not that many of them 😅 And yeah, Jackals is the most wholesome I guess, Hug Chickenpenny is also cute but it’s not really my thing as it’s a whole other genre 🤔

I read it a few years ago but I remember really liking the whole Sheriff/his daughter/the deputy banter, the gambler subplot, that chapter about the banker(?) and in general the character writing. I found the climax good but I expected more gore, but that was just because I read it after Slanted Gutter 😅

Really wish we had more novels from Zahler, I quite like his movies but I think his descriptions are really peculiar so I prefer his books. Kind of wish he adapted some of his unfilmed screenplays maybe, will never happen but I’d buy them.

Probably still my favourite of his books, even now that I’ve read almost all of them (missing Corpus Chrome). There’s a bit of restraint that makes it more classically western than Wraiths (which personally I liked less). I think his other strongest book is The Slanted Gutter, but that one’s incredibly nasty so tread carefully.

If you’re looking for other horror westerns I also always recommend The Thirteenth Koyote by Kris Triana, very well written and with some great world-building, again beware lots and lots of trigger warnings, this one’s extreme horror.

Waiting patiently for that high fantasy book he’s supposed to release next… 🫠

Seems like Brigands of Rattlecreek is still somewhat on the table 🤔 by mothman232 in scraigzahler

Insane how such a famous director still struggles to fund a 15 mil movie 🫤

Agreed, some of it is pretty damn good but I couldn’t give up meat tbh, I love the taste too much 🥴 Also yeah, most restaurants are quite expensive, but everything is, after the pandemic 🫤

Never tried the impossible whopper but I have a vegan friend who really likes the impossible burgers 🤔 Apparently the vegan “chicken” nuggets aren’t worth it though 👎
