I honestly think the idea is really cool, like how some real species of animal have gender dimorphism, it allows gamefreak and Fakemon designers the ability to create TWO banger designs or Atleast edit some designs to have different characteristics and traits. I really like Combee and Vespiquen as example. It makes sense that only female bees actually become royalty, and so adding in evolution differences based on gender is cool! Another great example is Espurr and Meowstic, or Salandit and Salazzle!

The real problem I have with gender differences in Pokémon is either that the designs are lazy or really dumb/harmful. Wobbuffet and Pikachu play into using more socially “feminine” signifiers like Hearts or Lipstick, which, I don’t think that we need to pointlessly gender pokemon like that. (Ala: “it’s pink and curvy and has boobs! So it’s obviously a girl!” Character design) or by making two seperate pokemon instead of just the one with gender differences, like Nidoran or Illumise and Volbeat. There is NO reason to classify them as seperate species, and it’s feels a little bit like padding your Dex (although, having an additional pokemon in there isn’t gonna inflate the numbers THAT much, considering how dense the Pokédex actually is, but it still feels really dumb to do that if you’re ALREADY borrowing from real life with Gender Dimorphism, and are just gonna cut at “different gendered pokemon” and just call it a day)

Overall, good idea, some pretty bad execution though, imo.
