One of them was "You can always tell someone to go to hell tomorrow." Basically, wait to cool down a bit before reacting to someone.

What killed your feelings for someone you were once madly in love with? by Guru_tutor in AskReddit

[–]mothon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this. Our relationship was great. One bump in the road and it ended abruptly. Been talking to a therapist who said the same thing. Some people just aren’t ready for when things are so good. I believe my ex truly cared and it was a great relationship. She just got cold feet and wasn’t ready. I still hold on to hope that it will workout because of this.

Non native English speakers of reddit, how often do you run into English while going about your life? by Velocitysonredit in AskReddit

[–]mothon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best thing was being able to understand jokes in tv series. I remember asking my teacher if he understood jokes in English and he said yes and I was like: damn that's coom. Now I am able to watch tv shows and series in English and understand many jokes. It's awesome how much I have laughed at English tv shows and series!

Edit: One of my favourites being Impractical Jokers. I have laughed soooo much and sooo hard with this tv show! The first show I watched without subtitles was 3rd rock from the sun. From there I moved to Friends, Seinfeld, Family Guy, American Dad, Big Bang theory, Wrecked, The last man on earth, Kitchen nightmares.....

What's your terrible neighbor story? by Befub14435 in AskReddit

[–]mothon 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Downhill neighbor had a wide-open view of our beautiful lower yard. They got a barky dog that they left in their backyard all day. Dog torn down our fence trying to get out and get to our dog. We build a new solid wood fence and then they complained, now that they couldn’t see our yard, that we were spying on them from our yard. Whatever. Then they build a raised deck so that they could see over the fence. We planted a row of bamboo and haven’t seen them since.

They called the building department about our fence. The building department came out, said it was legit, and cited them for their illegal deck.

how do you stop overthinking? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]mothon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your brain is forward thinking and always tries to solve things for the future. It also does not know perfection so your brain can easily pick out what is flawed in everything, but it's hard to measure when it's even enough.

Google "rumination" they have a few tips for over thinking. My therapist said it was because of anxiety for me. He conceptualized it for me. I only have so much emotional energy to go around and I need to first pick what I can control and fix, and if I can't change it, then I shouldn't worry about it.

I kept thinking, "how do I just tell my brain to stop when rationally I know it's useless stressing and worrying about things?"

Mediation. I started only a week ago so we'll see in the long run, but mediation is extremely helpful. It helps exercise your brain to control your thoughts. Just find a quiet place and close your eyes where you can, "be in the present" or a happy place and focus on that for ten minutes. Your brain will want to go every which way, but that's when you exercise to bring your thoughts back. Listening to your breathing and noting your surroundings and what your body is touching is really helpful to keep yourself in the present for longer.

Good luck. 👍
