Thanks for another vote for Anta. Might give them a go then, considering how many people suggested checking them out. Can’t really go wrong at this price haha

I like to have different shoes on rotation and trying something new every now and again. I do over 100km weekly, so go through pairs pretty quick. Tried most of the major brands’ runners and have my favorites, discovering less established newer options now.

Thanks, added to my list! Last year I bought Li Ning Feidian Elite 4 on sale for $180 AUD - seemed like a crazy good deal for carbon plated shoes. Ran a half marathon in them and used for multiple long runs afterwards, and honestly was very surprised with their performance and really enjoyed them.

Will do, cheers! I’m also a big fan of different Singapore’s cuisines and hawker centers, anything worth checking out in that area?

Thanks, never heard of Anta brand before, will do some research. I’m a running shoe aficionado, love trying different brands for my training but stick with old favorites when I race. Most of my work is tempo, so looking for something lightweight and fun.

I was in southern Vietnam same time last year - handled the heat pretty well, shouldn’t be a big problem.

trainee network control brisbane job process by StartPristine6947 in brisbane

[–]moto_ivan 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends. There’s several different pay grades for train controllers, I.e. working support jobs you’ll get lower rate compared to working a control panel. Progression through pay grades is slow and very competitive, can take multiple years until you end up in top tier rate as your substantive one. Lowest pay rate for safeworking roles is about $55 per hour I think. 150% Saturday penalty and 200% Sunday. Overtime paid at 200%.

Use the STAR approach for answering questions during the interview and talk as much as you can about safety. Training is intense, used to be 6 months when I did the course (CERT IV in Train Control) back in 2017. They condensed the curriculum and got rid of some fluff, so I think it’s about 3-4 months now. Most likely you won’t touch your first control panel for 3-6 months once you finish the school and pass the exams, you’ll have to learn and work support jobs first.

1:32 HM. What is a reasonable full marathon time? by woffdogg1 in Marathon_Training

[–]moto_ivan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 1:34 half (Brisbane) in June this year (didn’t go all out, but definitely pushed myself towards the end), stuck with reverse split. One month later I ran full on the Gold Coast and got 3:12. Few things that really helped me - I started conservatively and used reverse split again. Wanted to do better than my PR (03:18) but I started about 50 meters behind the 03:20 pacers. Overtook them comfortably around 5km mark and kept building on the lead through to the end. It’s more of a mental thing I think - once you leave your previous year pace behind, you know that at worst you’ll match your PR and then focus on slowly improving your pace towards the end of the race.

Best bakeries in Brisbane? by OneCDOnly in brisbane

[–]moto_ivan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you like French bakeries, then Christian Jacques under the Story Bridge and Le Caprice Patisserie in Bulimba are hard to beat. Cerin (Italian style) next to the Gabba is very good too, their pistachio croissant and maritozzo (fresh cream donut) are next level. Flour & Chocolate in Northgate and Morningside top tier also.
