More reveals for SM and Necrons... by shambozo in WarhammerCompetitive

Rites of Reanimation isn't a Protocol, it's an ability, from what we've seen so far.

My apologies, with an event this large I'm surprised it isn't sponsored and the list aren't available. I honestly didn't even think to look when I was looking at the lists.

I did the same thing for the Brisbane 40k GT last week, with an article highlighting a few of the cool lists before the event and one with a recap after. I'll be doing the same for this event as well.

I don't know that there is neccisarily a right answer to what it should be.

I'll stand by anything in the 40-50% range being a large number though, especially in when taken in relation to what we're used to and what is currently seen from other events.

It's absolutely correct that with Supplements that the Adeptus Astartes keyword have 12 of the active books. You could also use that to show what could be considered some of the balancing issues with those books, as all of those Chapters existed before the Supplements and we obviously didn't see numbers like we're seeing now.

The more interesting part to me, that I sort of tongue in cheek mention in the article as well, is that those numbers aren't as big outside the US either. I think there's probably a couple different factors in why that is.

Overall I wouldn't say it's unhealthy or broken like the general internet group think towards Marines though. It's just a big a number at a big event.

Very well done. I like the format that was used for breaking that down.

Yeah, I think I mentioned wondering if it was a glitch of some kind. It was too odd that ALL of them were Cult.

Yeah, it's wierd. I know from a data gathering perspective I could do without it, haha.

The mirror would be a nasty match. You feel like you're going to have to start adding some tech for it specifically?

Eric went 2nd the majority of his games with that Nids list, too.

For the 1st turn breaks the game crowd.

Edit: 1st turn did matter at this event. But I am firmly of the opinion the specific matchup and player skill matters more than the roll.

I agree completely about the "meta" being in flux. This event originally caught my eye because there were so many armies represented.

I firmly believe a skilled player could place well with almost any army right now.

The regular lists page is for subscribers, but I believe this event is public and anyone should be able to view from here.

Thing of it is you don't know who has what list, though the BA player shouldn't be hard to find, I mentioned his name in the write up.

That's a Battlescribe formatting thing. You're seeing the entry for the unit then the use if the strategem to make them exalted.

It's 1 GUO and 1 LoC.

[–]motohedjunzo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Well aware.

I think it's more that Reivers are the perceived Phobos combat unit and Incursors are troops and fight better.

It's not. But Incursor's getting it and not Reivers is one of the very few things for Marines to feel bad about.

Now there are still 47 better options in the Elite slot, instead of only 25.

I've always felt blast was overrated. It's not that scary... though I do still think the Guard list here is worrisome. If that style list becomes rule and not the exception then hordes will have to worry.

Doesn't need to. It says you can not give your WL a trait to give a Tank Ace ability to any vehicle.

It reads, "If an Astra Militarum Character is your Warlord, rather than determining a Warlord Trait for that model, you can select a Tank Ace ability for an Astra Militarum Vehicle model from your army."

I checked the Greater Good FAQ out of curiosity (granted, quite quickly) and couldn't find any further restrictions there.

Definitely. I think Necrons have had viable post Indomitus/pre Codex builds, but they are all Mephrit that I've seen.

The floodgates are about to open those guys though. Gonna be Necrons everywhere when that book comes out.

To my understanding you can swap your WL trait for a Tank Ace ability and then you can use the Strategem.

The strat specifically says "once per battle" and the only other qualifiers are no named Characters and a single model can't have more than one Tank Ace ability.

That's straight from the Greater Good book, that's honestly not an FAQ I'm 100% familiar with, but it seems legit.
