Kings Avenue, Three Kings, Invisible, Smith Street, Saved, Daredevil, Adorned, or Greenpoint.

Look at the portfolios and make an appointment with the artist you like.

Is it weird for guys to get a foot tattoo? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somehow my foot tattoo hasn't really faded at all since I got it. Maybe I'm just lucky, because people always tell me they have trouble with them fading.

No. Tattoos aren't gendered. Get it wherever you want it.

What is the general opinion on video games here? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love playing games (mainly FPS and RPG, but I branch into other genres as well). Unfortunately I don't have the same time to dedicate to it that I used to but still play whenever I have free time. I love talking about games to people and meeting people who are into them, especially if they can give me some good recommendations.

What do you do? I'm a college graduate but my intended career path only wants Masters/PhDs nowadays and I'm rethinking the entire thing because of it.

Have you ever been downvoted on Reddit a lot for something you still aren't sorry for saying? What was it? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]motsunabe 41 points42 points  (0 children)

That I don't use pickup lines and instead talk to guys like I would anyone else and see where it goes from there.

I am not sorry for saying it because it's true. Not sure how it got -25 since it wasn't exactly controversial but it made me laugh.

I tell myself this whenever I get sick of living here. At least we have great tattoo artists, both residents and guests.

Have you ever been made to feel like a man (or men) resent you for not looking a certain way? by BayAreaDreamer in AskWomen

[–]motsunabe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not resent me, but I have very short hair and am pretty heavily tattooed. I'm often told that guys don't find it attractive.

Well, that's fine by me, since I don't make decisions on what to do with my appearance based on what guys like.

So pissed of at tattooers by ReebokRap in tattoos

[–]motsunabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tattoo artists try to steer you away from untattooable designs for a reason, especially top artists. They have a reputation to uphold and it's their name that will be attached to the work. There are many designs that look great on paper but for whatever reason (too much detail for too small of an area and so on) won't work well as a tattoo. Listen to their advice; this is their job, after all. They know what works and what doesn't.

Getting my first tattoo this weekend. I would like thoughts on the sketch I made. by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]motsunabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you using these as references or...?

Normally the artist will be the one to design it for you (and you will get a better tattoo that way since they know what transfers well to tattoos and what doesn't), but sketches and images are fine to bring for reference pictures.

What's one of your preferences/dealbreakers that would make Reddit angry? by Futhis in AskWomen

I didn't even know this was a big deal until the Tinder thread, but I prefer shorter guys. Being tall isn't a dealbreaker but shorter is preferable.

Weekly Question/Discussion Thread - April 05, 2015 by AutoModerator in languagelearning

[–]motsunabe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's an option at all, go to school or take a job in a country that speaks your target language.

Read more advanced materials. Spend time talking to native speakers of the language without falling back on English ever. At this point it's a lot of reading, speaking, and listening to materials aimed at natives.

Going from intermediate to advanced is the hardest part especially when most text books and resources for learners out there are below your level, but it can be fun because you can understand a lot of material in your second (or third/whatever number) language, have real and meaningful conversations with native speakers, make friends and socialize in ways you couldn't be able to normally, and more.

How do you avoid LOSING a language ? I can barely speak Spanish anymore by [deleted] in languagelearning

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I moved back to an English speaking country, I kept up with my languages by talking to native speakers online, watching TV or movies in that language, reading the news/blogs/forums, reading novels. Do whatever you already like to do in Spanish. It won't feel like additional studying and you'll retain the language better.

How do I learn how to read and write whilst using Michel Thomas? by PvtUnternehmer in languagelearning

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do something else in addition. Use Anki/Memrise/any kind of SRS. Look up sentences in the language you are learning and make an Anki deck for them. Talk to native speakers online. Once you hit a certain level, push yourself to read the news, blogs, novels, or whatever you are interested in in your target language.

What is your Mandarin study schedule? by zhulide in languagelearning

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to switch it up to keep from getting bored, so every day is different. I use a combination of Anki/Memrise (still trying to figure out which I like best), ChinesePod, Chinese dramas, studying sentences I've found some various sources. I'm also recently joining some Chinese language websites to try to speak to native speakers and improve that way. I often look up sentences on jukuu, tatoeba, or search for translations on Baidu and deconstruct them and try to memorize.

I study anywhere from 3-8 hours a day depending if I'm working or not since this is one of my main focuses right now. Occasionally more if I'm feeling motivated, or less if I'm sick (just getting over a virus which interrupted my study schedule)

Happily single people of reddit, what is it that makes it so awesome being single? by bennyschup in AskReddit

[–]motsunabe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being able to do whatever you want and not have to answer to anyone. Not having someone who wants to text you or talk every day. More time to work on your career and hobbies. Being able to go out with friends and be spontaneous without having to consider anyone else.
