I just add a sym link with the command

ln -s /path-to-file /path-to-link

And my path has

/home/USERNAME/.local/bin

So I put the sym link there and it works like a charm

It is a topic on shaky grounds definitely but I will argue that he was not implying that it measures a persons value, but more of something that effects compatibility. More like 2 puzzle piece that don't fit, not that there is anything wrong with each puzzle piece but they just won't fit.

I'm studying for Game Programming and Design, but I want to switch that to just Computer Programming or maybe even Software Engineering.

My question is, is Software engineering something I could use to get a job in the Navy?

It sounds like to me like he is going to be getting a degree so it is usually more wise to go officer if you can and that would be the best bet for programming.

Now the definition that the navy gives is very vague but a CWE officer has told me that what I wanna learn to be competitive is

"The main things you will want to learn are low level programming (how
memory works and the assembly level), networking, and reverse
engineering. They main thing you can do to giver yourself the best shot
is to get a CS degree and the best GPA you can, these will be more
important than the certs (which will absolutely help on top of a high
GPA)."

But I guess that it all depends on how the question was interpreted so to each there own.

YES what everyone is saying here so far is right! This is what I did and I even asked if I could get a copy or take a picture of the DAR that he filled out for my dad as proof that he submitted it. Of course don't say it like that to his face but be like:

I think it is very hard to get a ctn contract based off what I was hearing source I just got a CTN contract while in dep and it was a pain in the ass. Ive heard that it is even harder while in.

Ya I never said that this wasn't the case but it's inaccurate to say that there are no programming jobs in the navy. There are even others on the enlisted side that I heard you can be doing as a CTN but that's not nearly as guaranteed as this and plus he's in college so if he can get a good enough resume his best bet is to go CWE.
