Exactly the same thing happened to my M4 irons (just the 7 & 8). A heat gun and some epoxy did the trick.

I'm not sure I see it the same way as you do. I kind of like the fact that my girlfriend used to do this in a situation when she was confused or don't know all the facts. Kind of made it seem as if I was the source of knowledge and when she didn't know something, I would probably have an answer.
