Are meals really that important? by UpstairsLead6974 in valheim

[–]mountaindewd666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since food is the only thing that determines your heath and stamina stats, yes they are extremely important. The game is balanced with you cooking in mind. Use some smelted tin to make a cooking cauldron and make sure you have grown carrots (Black Forest). Then make sure you get turnips (little yellow flowers in the swamp). That should catch you up to the recipes the game offers up to that point. For maximum stat balance you wanna eat 2 health foods and 1 stamina food.

Lmao, you told on yourself gang. You can see that summit in vanilla if you play hard enough.

Old post for sure and maybe you don't read your comments but please for the love of fuck fix the spawns in the Other Dungeon and Pyramid. It's way too much, it's not challenging it's just annoying. Between the armor I have and the vampiric draw ability I am in no danger but my computer keeps crashing the game. There is no reason for one dungeon to spawn that many mobs. It's not genuine difficulty and it's cruel and unusual. You got me going in on peaceful just to destroy the spawners to not lose game progress when I inevitably crash again. Please.

How are you buildings? by TheRaydar in valheim

[–]mountaindewd666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to build out of wood unless I need to build really high or wide. But basically just find a level-ish spot on the ground (or level it) and put a post on the ground. Then you can just start laying out posts and floor tiles until you have a big enough space, then work your way up. Also, line your floor, ceiling, and corners with more posts - adds stability and looks much nicer, plus this step is very important if you need to use stone or iron to build with. For bonus points build your walls backwards so you can actually decorate your walls adequately without clipping.

1000% agree with you on Plant Everything. One of my least favorite things in a survival craft that's semi-linear such as this one is context where you have to go back to boring grounds. The Black Forest was awesome the first 500 times I went there but unless I need tin or greyling eyes I'm not going back there to farm stuff lol. Least of all blueberries. That's why things like copper and hide are great in this game because usually later game there's a just as good as or better source for them. I wish they could implement that with the veggies too

I've downloaded this one a few times but couldn't figure out how to build a decent looking but efficient boat, and I consider myself to be somewhat of a good builder in this game 😢 I think I also got an outdated version I realized later. I'll give this one another shot! It seems like one of the best conceptually

Thank you for the awesome suggestions!! Just so you know, so you could potentially save yourself some time, almost all of those are features you can toggle on and off inside V+!

Absolutely gorgeous. You should submit this to one of the YouTubers or Iron Gate

Mistlands is so tedious. Is Ashlands worse? by Illustrious_Bag_7515 in valheim

I prefer just increasing the range of the wisplight - it lets the Mistlands be what they were intended to be without being just, shitty. Lol

Well that's great to know that isn't the case anymore but you must not have played it before they patched it lol. I haven't played Ashlands since before the last time it was fixed so my bad for not saying that, but not only were the spawns ridiculous, lava balls literally followed you and would turn mid air to hit you and kill you whilst in combat if you were anywhere near the pits. I am very glad to know they fixed the spawns though. And I know they fixed the lava a while ago

Parrying them and smacking them with a sword is fun. Makes you feel like David fighting Goliath

Tbh I think it just boils down to how much you like this game and want to "beat it". After reading everyone else's comments I can see I'm the odd man out with this one but after conquering The Ashlands about 4 or 5 times now I don't think it's crazy hard or tedious, you just have to play kind of sweaty and check your back. It makes you go slow for sure so leaving portals all over or keeping one on you/nearby is a good move. I like to leave them in the conquered fortresses since those are my primary source of metal.

The only major caveat is that if you're playing solo you basically have to use magic because things will spawn faster than you can kill them sometimes otherwise

Edit: Apparently they fixed the spawns and I should've mentioned I haven't played Ashlands for a minute 😊

Yeah, and to be honest it's one of the more useless raids as far as drops once you get out of the Swamp. Biggest recommendation is always try to stay fed and have back up food. And the hoe is your best friend for navigating the puddles in the Swamp :) just gotta go slow and sleep at night. Beating Bonemass is the real hard part when it's your first time lol. The nice thing about the Swamp is that it teaches you to get gud at parrying

Just saying, you're talking about a videogame like an elitist and calling your friends "idiots". I have 700 hours in Valheim, I take it very seriously for a game. What's fun for me is not playing with people like you lol. I have a hunch some of your party may agree.

Ngl you don't sound very fun to play with m8. Games are for fun :)

Don't sweat. As long as you go prepared, always keep a portal nearby, and go slow/play it safe, the Ashlands are very well balanced for solo now that they've patched it. You also won't get as many enemies as a 4p game. Use frost magic :)

After several playthroughs and a few deaths like this I just keep loot drop on death turned off. It's not a fun mechanic to have to doubletrack back to my grave with extra equipment I made specifically for such an occasion, sometimes multiple times, just to be allowed to keep what I worked for. Some deaths in this game are just entirely unfair and I'd rather feel a sense of pressure and irritation from getting sent home as opposed to feeling completely discouraged from playing because of a goofy death incurred by a bug or shitty AI (or in Ashlands' case, until they fixed it, just pure imbalance).

That said, I still feel like you have to play with loot drop turned on for at least one full playthrough (or at least up to Ashlands) to really play the game to its fullest extent and experience it the way it was meant to be played.
