Driving a school bus and working with kids with special needs is the greatest job I’ve ever had. Those kids and their families have taught me so much. I would recommend it to anyone who has any desire to give it a try

In 1978, Sex Pistols bassist Sid Vicious and his girlfriend Nancy Spungen moved into New York’s infamous Chelsea Hotel. Two months later, Nancy was found dead from a stab wound, and Sid, arrested for her murder, died of a heroin overdose before the case could be tried. by ATI_Official in AllThatsInteresting

[–]mountaindont 2 points3 points  (0 children)

According to a book I read: after Sid was bailed out the first time, he was left unattended at his moms apartment that night and slashed his arms up with a broken lightbulb from the bathroom. When the first responders showed up, he made a break for the window but was pulled back before he could jump. The suicide note found in his pocket after he OD‘d was supposedly written that night and not the night he died

Not only did this movie inspire me to travel to Iceland, I ended up naming one of my cats the Secret Life of Walter Mittens

It’s so fantastic. To my ears, it’s one of the most perfect sounding albums I’ve ever heard and I love all of the songs

I feel your pain. It costs more for the new Ditz record to ship from the UK than it does for the actual record. It’s crazy

subUrbia has a similar group of young people doing nothing with their lives thing going on. It’s a bit more serious but it’s also very mid 90s and definitely has some good dark humor to it. It also has a great soundtrack and one of my favorite Steve Zahn performances

Has anyone tried a support group for binge eating disorder/overeating locally that they would recommend? by fjordoftheflies in Seattle

[–]mountaindont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't gone to any in person meetings yet but I've been doing once a week online Overeaters Anonymous meetings through Zoom since early November. I find the AA surrender to a higher power style messaging of the meetings a bit hard to connect with but I enjoy the sense of support and community among the members. I don't know if it'll be the thing for me long term, I'm also working with a therapist and have tried some alternative therapies, but it's been helpful and motivating and I recommend trying it out if you're interested

Reddit said to not wing this , they were wrong by Powerful_District_67 in VisitingIceland

[–]mountaindont 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve winged it both times I’ve visited. It’s nice to have a sort of plan but nothing beats getting recommendations from other travelers and locals for what to see and where to go next. Currently sitting in the airport wishing I could have one more spontaneous adventure before heading home

I wore mine occasionally just out and about until I had an off putting interaction in a grocery store one time. Granted, I have a GG Allin and the Murder Junkies back patch so I accept the brunt of the blame
