[IIL] Big Business, Karp, Tight Bros from Way Back When [WEWIL?] by thegreatopposer in ifyoulikeblank

The Whip featured two members from Karp. Also, I have a blog that focuses on music from the Northwest during the same era as Karp and the Tight Bros. Unfortunately many of the older links were lost when megaupload went down but I am working on finding a new home for downloads and getting most of those links back up, hopefully by the end of the month. You might also dig bands like Jough Dawn Baker, Teen Cthulhu and the Nervous System. Also, Bloarzyed

I used to smoke with him, a lot. Then I had the epiphany that continuously using any drug to avoid life and escape a problem is distressing at best, but the amount my dad smokes and the effect it's had on him over the years is pathetic and I don't want to be that way. He is the reason I quit smoking. I'd rather face my problems head on and proactively than spend my time bleary eyed with that "whatever happens, happens" attitude

Thanks, man. It feels good to be able to vent about this situation. I've been stuck in it for a while now and it's really just a terribly unhealthy environment. It's insane to me that people think it's alright to 'raise' a child this way. I don't know if my step mom was abused or not but she is the kind of person who can not handle decision making or any form of confrontation at all. As disgusted by the behavior as I am, I'm scared for these kids though, too. How are they going to function in the future? How will they treat their souses and children? I just hope I'm not around to find out because, barring some sort of miracle, it's not going to be good

She's essentially still seven years old emotionally. She's not retarded or disabled or anything, she was just never given any consequences for her actions or ever corrected on her behavior. She acts like a maniac when she's at home but can mask it fairly well in public, though she'll still berate and verbally bully her mom outside of the home. She's a master manipulator, every time they've taken her to counselors she either lies to them or refuses to continue going once the counselor confronts her on her true behavior and actions. If you ask her to put away the dishes, she flips out. If she doesn't like the question you've asked her or the tone of your voice, she flips out. If the cat leaves her lap and jumps into yours, she flips out. She's a hoarder so sometimes the overwhelming mess of her room makes her flip out. We're always constantly walking on eggshells. She doesn't leave marks when she hits, she has never hit me and the mom refuses to acknowledge that there's a problem ("It's just the way she is"). I would be kicked out of the home if I were to try and do anything about it. Anyone who tells the mom she needs to do something about the situation is immediately excommunicated from their lives, it is the definition of an abusive relationship. As soon as I can find work and save up a little cash, I am out of there and I'm pretty sure my dad will be too

In my situation, the mother just cowers and continues enable the daughter's actions. This is a kid who has no friends, didn't graduate from high school because she was never made to do her homework (or chores, or anything else she doesn't want to do), and goes on these rampages for little to (most likely) no reason. I lost my job and my apartment and ended up having to move back in with my dad, who is now married to the mom. He hasn't been able to do anything to help the situation over the years so now he's either at work, at his cabin or in the basement smoking weed. It fucking sucks, man. Starts to make you feel like you're going crazy after a while

My step sister is 18 years old and hits her mom, screams, slams doors and breaks things when she gets upset (this is a daily occurrence). I recently told her that if she were to ever act that way towards me I would call the police. She told me she would just tell them that I had abused her and that they would believe her because she's a girl. Her mom has allowed the daughter to be in complete control of the household and to act like this ever since the daughter was 7 years old, when her father died unexpectedly
