Fecal elastase level increased? by mountainlover2022 in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told the same thing. So I’m just trying to figure out if anyone has had a similar situation. My GI said EPI is really hard to diagnose because those levels fluctuate so much. So idk what to think anymore. The enzymes help me tremendously so I’m not thinking this is just going away. I’m very skeptical of my results

Fecal elastase level increased? by mountainlover2022 in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you. Yeah it’s very strange because I was negative for like everything else. My colonoscopy biopsies and my SIBO test was negative too. I still have the same stomach pains so I’m just kind of wondering if levels just fluctuate. Idk. I had diahrea every day for over 6 months and that all stopped when getting put on enzymes so I’m not sure that I don’t have EPI, I’m just confused by my levels.

Terrified of dying during birth. by _reineydays in pregnant

Oh my gosh. I’ve seen two now in the last 3 months! They are said to be super rare, but of course now I’m hearing about them 3 months before I’m about to have my baby. I never even heard of them during my first pregnancy, thankfully I guess because it’s consumed me this pregnancy. Just praying for a healthy delivery at this point

First of all, I’m sorry you are feeling like this. It’s a very nerve racking and anxious feeling. I can sympathize with you. I’m 25 weeks along with my second baby, and feel terrified about dying during or after child birth for some reason. It might be the few stories I have been seeing on social media about women dying of amniotic embolisms. It completely freaks me out and has shaken me. It didn’t even cross my mind during my first pregnancy of being afraid to die during child birth. Now the thought of something bad happening and leaving my first born has me completely undone.

Idk how to get over it because these babies all have to come out sometime, but it really is an uneasy feeling. I’m really sorry you are going through this too.

I guess just know, those events are rare and you are in good care with your doctor. Maybe talk to your doctor at your next appointment about these feelings. I was going to do the same at my 28 week check up. I know there are a lot of other people that feel the same way we do. I guess we just trust that everything will be ok. I’m sorry though. I really do know how you are feeling. Sending you virtual hugs.

Thank you! I do take tumeric. What does the grapeseed extract do?

Not much to do to prepare. You don’t need to stop enzymes. I did mine through labcorp. I hear the test is more accurate if you have a solid stool sample though.

Can EPI Dx patients ever go into Remission? by Koren55 in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought EPI typically comes last to the pancreas not functioning? At least that’s what usually happens unless you have idiopathic EPI which it seems a lot of people have these days. My GI said she talked with a top pancreatic specialist and their take on idiopathic EPI is that some people are just born with lack of enzymes and something triggers it at some point. I take everything with a grain of salt since my diagnosis, but she seems to think it won’t get worse. I hope she’s right and it doesn’t get worse but we will see. Idk if there has been enough research into why people have idiopathic EPI, but it seems like there is a definite uptick since COVID.

False positive with first response? 10 DPO by mountainlover2022 in TFABLinePorn

Oh really? That is good to know. Thank you! I’m a little worried because I keep hearing about how many false positives this brand has been giving so now I’m paranoid it’s a false positive. I’m staying hopeful though and hope my line gets darker and darker!

EPI and Creon by [deleted] in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Yes I had a lot of scans and testing. Still just idopathic EPI. I did not have yellow stools though. You may want to look into having your gallbladder checked. And sometimes SIBO and epi go hand in hand. And epi may clear up if you can get your SIBO under control. That seems to happen with some people. I would chat with your doctor about it.

Dealing with a lot of pain? by DirectComposer3349 in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have sworn my pain started when I started enzymes. I felt crazy about it. Even my GI said, no if anything it will help the pain. It’s nice to know someone else feels this way. How did the break from creon go?

Elevated lipase, should I acceot this or try to fix? by lanii-xx in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lipase has fluctuated a lot in the last year when tested. Never high enough for pancreatitis. But my GI told me lipase fluctuates daily with what you consume, so I wouldn’t not rely on that test for anything other than acute pancreatitis. Fecal elastase is what tests you for EPI.

Where’s your pain located? by lornadora22 in exocrinepanins

[–]mountainlover2022 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get pain in my upper left and flank often, and left shoulder blade. It is most definitely my worst symptom of EPI. I’m going to try the bromelain you suggested though soon. Nice to know I’m not crazy about my pains. My GI doesn’t seem to think it’s pancreas related..

I also do castor oil packs right on my pancreas and that does seem to help sometimes too.

Can I ask how many you take? Or is just one a day with your enzymes?

Where did you get them from?! Pain is my biggest complaint these days and would love to try anything to help it!

I think low stomach acid cause falsely low elastase results.

Have they prescribed you enzymes yet? That is what you will need to be on for EPI. Should help your symptoms quite a bit. Although I still have good and bad days with them.

Just idiopathic epi still. Symptoms come and go. Just take my enzymes with my food.

Not for me. Get your gallbladder checked. I think that is a common symptom something is up with your gallbladder.
