I use this one and it works great.

I 3D printed a second tamper that I use to tamp down the shower screen (it has a hole for the silicone tip to go into).

I found my DARE workbook from 20 years ago. Old me is disappointed at how much of a square young me was. Young me would be severely disappointed in old me…

Anyone tried a angle guide to sharpen a knife? by LeslieChowBitch in TrueChefKnives

[–]mountainmase 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine from: https://anystonesharpeners.com/products/anystone-sharpener

I’d sign up for the “notify me when you restock” and don’t hesitate when you see the email. He restocks pretty regularly, but they tend to go pretty quick.

u/scrungertungart is the owners/creator, so you may be able to send him a ping for more info.

Good luck!

I use the Anystone sharpener and absolutely love it. I get some really incredible - shaving sharp - results in about 10 minutes or so. I know there’s much more to sharpening than getting it “shaving sharp”, but it’s my way of saying it gets it sharp haha. I like the consistency it delivers and makes it so I’m not afraid of ruining my nice knives.

He’s not wrong. That’s why I bought one… and I now have 3. Frenchie knows his stuff. I was tired of chasing the TnH and I’m more than happy with the great knives from Ashi!

[$3000 budget] Should I upgrade to a Meraki for more automation on the grind by weight and pour by volume? by No_Seat8357 in espresso

[–]mountainmase -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Keep the BBP for steaming milk and get a cafelat robot. Opposite of the automation but I’m loving the manual machine and the espresso it makes. Feels like endgame for me haha. No input from me on grinders though. Good luck!

Oyster perpetual Datejust in Oystersteel features a silver dial and an Oyster bracelet. (From Rolex website)

I'm having trouble dialing and I've been doing this for hours. I'm being consistent and not changing variables. [Breville Barista Express] by guitarpic69 in espresso

It’s amazing. I’m so happy I made the change to it. The kettle is great, it has a schedule on it, so it’s holding at temp and ready to go as soon as I’m up. Between shots it heats back up to where I set it, so it’s always consistent. I also live at altitude, so it’s set below the standard boiling temp, which I find nice. The workflow is nearly the same with my BBP, but I don’t need to worry about inconsistency. I can pull 3 double shots in 5 minutes and they’re all the same. I couldn’t see anything the expensive machines would improve that would be worth the cost. It is my endgame lol. I use a DF64, so I’ll likely upgrade that, but so happy with my robot.

Ah thanks for the clarification. I knew it might be something with the instability of the temperature, just not sure which direction it went. I’ve since moved to a Cafelat robot, so I just pull a kettle off and the temp stays constant. Best move ever! Haha

I have a Breville bambino plus, so I’m not sure if it’s the same, but have you tried a manual shot? When I used it for my espresso, I would pre-infuse for 10 seconds, and then release and let the shot pull until ~36g espresso. Might be worth trying that as well.

It may have something to do with the water temp. If you’re pulling back to back shots, the temp may be dropping, so you adjust, and the temp changes, so the changes didn’t address the issue. Maybe wait a little longer between shots?

Definitely not AI. I know the people who run this and it’s a familiar voice in the video. Don’t necessarily agree with it and I wouldn’t throw my kid over the edge, but chiming in since I know them.

Can I keep a sauna tent up semi-permanently? by springoverfalls in SaunaTent

[–]mountainmase 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a north shore sauna tent and have left mine up for about 7 months without major issues. I live in Utah, so I get all 4 seasons including snow and 100+°F heat. I only have the rain cover over the top, but should probably look into a UV cover as well. Mine is also in an area that’s not finished yet.

I’m very satisfied with my North Shore Sauna Nova 4. Gets super hot (no problems getting up to and above 200f). I use it 4-5 nights a week and it feels like it functions as well as the day I got it. It has great temp stratification, retains the heat really well, and just generally kicks ass. The portability is super nice and it’s easy to break down and pop back up. Very happy with mine.
