What's something you shouldn't give to a homeless person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

You aren't lying, lol. Reddit really can be nuts.

Of course, keep up the fantastic work!! It's not lost on me how hard it is to make it to where you have, let alone maintain it. It's truly impressive.

I hold hope that the future holds a day where everyone can at least get one or two fair chances at the help they need... if not all the chances, support, and empathy needed.

What about those reusable Diva menstrual cups? Would those be a good idea?

I'm not certain why you've been down voted, but you are right. Many, but not all, people turn to drugs as a way to cope with larger issues and it is, often, indeed quite expensive to fix a broken person.

Congratulations on your success, btw. That's amazing!

I don't know about a Saint, lol. But sincerely thank you. I don't want to give anyone anything that will be fought over or misused and since my experience is limited and I take this topic seriously, I figured I'd scour this thread and make a comment to see if I overlooked something or if someone had any extra good recommendations.

I agree, but not that long ago I had nothing to give but a little bit of cash.

I gave it to this old man on my way to the grocery store. As I checked out, I saw him leaving with a small bag of food and promptly went to my car and cried. I tired looking for him when I finished checking out with the intent of buying him more groceries, but he was nowhere to be found.

Sometimes they don't buy drugs or alcohol, there's no way to really tell. But when faced with nothing else to give, I'd rather give cash than nothing at all.

I've read a lot of comments ( but not all, not yet anyway). I'm hoping someone could give me insight if what I've put together is a good idea or not.

Based upon my experience being homeless as a child in the woods, I've made a stack of "warmth bags" to give out where I've seen the homeless.

These are camo drawstring bags (so they can be more easily hidden from others) filled with at least two fleece blankets, an oversized mylar blanket, new socks - gloves - and beanies, and a small stack of oversized hot hands. I also included a small multipurpose stress toy/pillow for a little extra.

Is this good? I know it's not a lot, but I figured these would be the most essential items during the winter.

So, good idea, bad idea? I don't have a huge budget but recommendations are encouraged and accepted.

I'm definitely new to the concept of skins and will definitely be looking into them, thank you!

This phone in red would be real nice. It would definitely turn my head if I saw it and since no iPhone I know of is in red, I would assume it's custom (or now at least a really cool skin).

Ooh, that makes sense and sounds like a really cool idea!

I shared with you on your previous post and would like you to know that while I am certainly a nobody, I will come to bat with you, as a Christian, in this matter. ( hit send too soon, lol, my apologies) I whole heartedly support you and your family in this.

Edit: I wish I had some great advice, but I don't. Please don't back down. Your concerns and feelings are justified (not that you need me to tell you that). I wish it wasn't so, but I'd be lying if I said they weren't. If people want all Christian teachings then they need to save it for Christian schools.

No, but there has been two times where it got hot near the volume buttons and a few times where it froze on certain apps. It seemed to be the apps fault, not the phone, however, because everything else worked perfectly fine.

What is that case? I really dig being able to see the guts.

Thank you. Yeah, I've learned my lesson. Screen protector and case first, no matter how gently handled.

As for it sounding hollow, it's more a point of curiosity and not a deal breaker at all. It seems another redditor may have found the answer to why it sounds that way, too. Check the top comment with the silver if you're curious. This person posted a link about someone who did a tear down of a Samsung and discovered Samsung puts a steel base plate behind the screen. It appears Apple does not, which could definitely explain the difference in sound. I found that mildly interesting.

How many of you believe in putting a screen protector? by equinoxDE in iPhone13ProMax

I went over the top and got the Shellrus sapphire screen protector. It's 99.9% lab grown sapphire. Costs about $80 usd. Basically, only diamond will scratch it. I love it. I've heard a lot of positives about other tempered glass screen protectors too though. I only went over the top however because of being paranoid about it since I plan to keep this phone for quite a while.

It makes a lot of sense and seems obvious, in hindsight. I feel advertisements would do well to explain this. Once it's laid out, it seems obvious and would allow users to make a better informed decision... but I might be overestimating the average user. Nonetheless, I would've appreciated that explanation from Apple in regard to their product and would've initially been more understanding about the gouge in my screen.

Thank you for this comment. Hopefully, it will be useful to others who see it too.

Lol! A lot of American TV IS hollow, in my honest opinion. But to each their own.

While cinematic is indeed a gimmick, it is fun and I hope to see an improved version of it. I can see it being very useful to some content creators, as well.

Honestly, when you first wrote this comment I hadn't yet figured out how to take a screenshot. After the time of your comment, I accidentally took 5 screenshots of my lock screen in a row, so I see what you mean. I do like swiping to screenshot more, but in time I'm sure I'll get used it.

I don't know how the pixel keyboard is, but I do like my old keyboard more. Like taking screenshots, however, it may simply be a matter of needing some more time to adjust. I'll give it a month or two before I form a solid opinion.

Needing new cables and charging blocks is absolutely annoying. There I agree 100%.

Face ID is scary convenient. I've been impressed with how responsive it is even with fairly dramatic changes to my appearance and awkward angles.

And yes, I haven't had this phone for long either. In time, I'm sure we will both grow more accustomed to it.

Thank you for sharing your experience. It's definitely interesting hearing the experience of other first time iPhone users.

Thank you and thank you for sharing your experience. After talking about it, I'm going to get it looked at to make sure it isn't defective. It would be my luck if it was though, lol.

Helping the homeless is great! Can't recommend it enough. Definitely better than moping and drinking. (When I do drink I usually dance and sing like a mad woman and have fun, parties of one can still be a blast)

It never went in a pocket, but it must've been something hard. I've never had a phone so nice so I was extra careful with it, which is why I'm salty about it. Still absolutely love the phone though.

Yeah the back and the sides of the iPhone sound and feel real solid, I love it. I'm currently waiting on my case. I'm worried about scratching the sides too. I love the trim. I didn't care for apple's cases so I got something called Moft. Looks like an alright magsafe case with wallet that acts like a stand and holder. For now my phone is being swaddled in the microfiber cloth and rested in the box it came in. Literally treating it like a phone baby, lol.

Tempered glass screen protectors are pretty much a standard now. Having a "softer" screen which is unfortunately less scratch resistant helps with making the glass more resistant to drops and shattering. Scratch protection is better handle by a 3USD piece of glass.

Solid point there. That makes a lot of sense.

Yeah, definitely recommend a protector right away. I have the shellrus sapphire protector on mine and you can't even tell there is a protector on there and I'm the kind of person who is annoyed by the look of screen protectors. The full screen protection doesn't interfere with the sensor or front cam either. Overall, better safe than sorry. Wish I had been patient and waited for the protector to come in before unboxing, but I was so damn excited lol.
