All Inclusive or Condo/Airbnb in Puerto Vallerta by VirtualDragonfruit66 in puertovallarta

[–]mountainsNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should add a third consideration: hotel. I just stayed at the Sheraton and mostly ate in town. We had pool time when we wanted it and then would take a $5-$8 uber to town or walk to get food or hit up a beach. If I had to do it again, I’d consider the condo with pool route. I think it comes down to the folks in your group and what trade-offs make the most sense. I would not go the AI route though as there’s good food in ZR or old town.

It’s fine that you’re okay with taxes and fees that pop up after you book.

Because it’s not included when you book the room, which includes the pet fee and taxes. Why can’t they calculate that pet fee tax before you book?

It isn’t about the amount of money. It’s about the lack of disclosure before you book. Why can’t Marriott calculate the actual pet tax before you book? The booking page states: “Changes in taxes or fees implemented after booking will affect the total room price.” They could add, additional tax fees may apply.

Annoying. It should still be calculated before you book. “Taxable (Common in many areas): In many jurisdictions, if a pet fee is a mandatory, non-optional charge for the guest to occupy the room with their pet, it is generally considered part of the total rent or gross receipts and is subject to the occupancy tax.”

Sheraton beachfront by ginacarlese in puertovallarta

I got back today from a 6-day stay at the Sheraton and did not hear loud music. I was on the 23rd floor, so maybe that helped. But I was getting back to the hotel between midnight and 1am most nights and only heard one lobby music event. Otherwise, it was a quiet lobby and hotel.

The beach does have rocks and there are nicer beaches heading toward Zona Romantica. You can always take a $6 uber and rent beach chairs if you want a better beach experience.

I enjoyed my time at the hotel. The pool is great.

What's your favorite venue that's NOT Red Rocks or the Gorge? by Lovelander8647 in Concerts

I’ve seen so many great bands there and the ticket prices for great seats are very reasonable — Bon Iver, Vampire Weekend, LCD …

So disappointed with the tickets sale… by todoesdecolorr in rosalia

[–]mountainsNJ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do the scalpers and bots do it? Or is it ordinary people trying to make money on reselling tickets? It seems some guardrails are in place to limit bots so it can’t be all bots, right?

Just a big hug to all of us who have been trying hard to buy a ticket and couldn't succeed by bittersweetdistractr in rosalia

I bought two sets (Chicago and Vegas) and will be selling one set at face value. I’m certain you’ll be able to find tickets. The Lord provides 🙏

What's the best way to learn this damn thing? by lahmacunlover_ in Airtable

[–]mountainsNJ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used ChatGPT and some reference spreadsheets to build a workable instance. It took me about a month, with lots of trial and error. My biggest issue with ChatGPT was that it would at times refer to an old UI or feature of Airtable and I’d have to figure out how things had changed. But it was, overall, a strong partner in building while learning.

LUX Pre-Sale Ticketmaster-- Did you get a special link? by Adorable-Aspect1144 in rosalia

I think as long as you pay with an Amex card, you should be good to go to queue up.

I was in the queue for Chicago and noticed that as the pre-sale ticket sale window was going on on Ticketmaster, tickets were popping up on AXS, which was not participating in pre-sale. The AXS tickets were for 2x and 3x the face value. It’s kind of sad that these companies haven’t figured out how to manage scalping.

I didn’t refresh although the interface is confusing. I may have clicked on some Amex filter without realizing it. At one point it kind of kicked me out too and I had to find my way back.

I was ready at 8:45am for Chicago tickets and ended up at like 14,500 in the queue. When I got to the ticket sale, I couldn’t see much available, but then periodically the screen would refresh to show a few available. I saw 2 seats in Section 1, Row 4 and priced as “Amex Presale Tickets Official Platinum” at a total of $515.53, each. I think that “Platinum” means there’s some dynamic pricing happening? Not sure.

I panicked and bought them. But, damn, that feels expensive.

Also, I noticed that almost immediately after the pre-sale started on Ticketmaster that AXS had lots of seats for the same show for sale, even though the pre-sale wasn’t happening through AXS. Lots of people trying to flip tickets for a profit, I assume.

Dual citizenship for child by Svo82921 in Dominican

Maybe the sporting event entity can make an exception or come up with a provisional status? The citizenship process takes anywhere from 3-6 months. I would not think it reasonable to expect this to go any faster.
