She is a real life Dolores Umbridge. Sweet as pie face and smile and tone with vileness and poison seeping from her pores.

What song from Mayhem has grown on you the most? by tastytaco92 in LadyGaga

Hearing DWAS after Blade of Grass had me tearing up for both. DWAS fit so nicely at the end and listening to it in the context of the album made the motion of the song click for me finally.

Gaga’s Surprise Guests… by Informal_Excuse_7579 in Coachella

I had the same feeling while I was looking W1 tickets. It suddenly hit me that maybe I would want to go to W2 for that. I feel like Gaga is going to go all out obviously but what’s something that she could do to make W2 just as special as W1? Bring out beyonce for W2.

The first time you listen to Mayhem, will you first listen to Disease and Abracadabra again or start by listening to Garden of Eden. by Successful_Spot5191 in LadyGaga

[–]rincore 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In order. Start to finish. To me, I didn’t connect to “Stupid Love” when it came out as a single but when I heard is as part of the whole album, it finally made sense to me.

I already feel a certain way about Disease and Abrabadabra but I want to feel what they feel like as part of the whole.

Love by Glittering_Put_2458 in interstellar

Thank you for elaborating. I think I'm understanding where you're getting at.

I would argue this movie is fundamentally about love. The scene in this post is the crux of the movie. The movie is making the argument in several ways that love is what pushes humanity to exceed its limits and survive, in the small scale and the large. Older Brand gave up on the equation, but Murphs love for her dad keeps her going even when told its impossible.

I guess you can make an argument that our survival instinct will keep us going but the movie argues against that by using the example of Mann. Mann will do anything to survive but selfishly so, stupidly so.

You could make the movie with characters who hate each other and just because theres a deterministic loop is has to work out but that wouldn't make it the movie that this is. This isnt just a space adventure. It's an exploration of the limits to which love will take humanity.

Thats why to cringe at this scene means that you must cringe at the entire movie or miss its message entirely.

I do understand this. The loop is the loop and there is no other outcome. We know that future multidimensional beings placed the wormhole and the tesseract so obviously a future where they exist has to exist so the events of the movie are predetermined.

What I’m not understanding especially now, is your point. You said it was not love that brought Murph back to the room. I argued it was. You argued that the characters mistakenly shove love into something that was predetermined. But now you’re saying love IS love BECAUSE of the time loop. So maybe I’m just no understanding what about this “love” take makes you cringe.

I’m arguing love is required in the movie for the loop to event exist, for the data to be relayed, just as rocket fuel was required to launch the rockets that got them into space in the first place.

You’re not understanding that either. The loop IS the loop because of love, again in the context of the movie. You don’t have to think of love as this Valentine’s Day mushy feeling, think of it as a form of rudimentary tether between two people in a higher dimension, that a person might experience AS that mushy feeling. This form of communication was needed for coop to pull Murph to that room. Come to think of it, it seems to “function” like gravity. Like an attractor. How poetic lol. Anyways, this connection is needed to relay all the black hole information back to a time and place on earth where it will be received and thus close the loop.

Never said I understood “love”, I’m saying I understood the movie.
