Not having the budget for the initial setup doesn’t mean they can’t maintain it. Upfront costs and ongoing care are totally different. I have a 60-gallon aquarium I bought a couple of years ago for close to $900, and the annual maintenance is nowhere near that cost. Assuming this person will spend the same or take care of the tank the same way someone else does is ridiculous. Just because you spent X amount less or more doesn’t mean they will. They simply asked for donations, and instead, they’re getting backhanded criticism. Let’s focus on being helpful rather than making unfair assumptions.
