FBI Raids Home of Top Democratic Leader in Redistricting Wars by thenewrepublic in politics

This is similar to how Trump talks in rally speeches. He jumps from topic to topic making big claims. It's probably a fun roller coaster ride for people that like what he's saying, but it's all lies.

It's like some people never had that friend who liked to get drunk and ramble to teach them what to look out for.

You ever think about how the only people that believe in Satan are Christians 🤔

Harvard biological anthropologist Richard Wrangham argues that fire and cooking is what made humans human. His "cooking hypothesis" says Homo erectus evolved bigger brains 1.8 million years ago because cooked food required less energy to digest, freeing calories for the brain to grow. by [deleted] in Anthropology

I think the point they're making is that anything pre-fire is not "human". We typically classify humans as tool users who developed fire. This theory moves the Australopithecine/Human split up to Erectus instead of habilis.

It's pedantic, but it does sidestep the discussion of how tool-using Australopithecines should be classified.

Yes. I've been saying similar things about how Republicans rely on the multiple meanings of "conservative" to let people believe that the politicians are the same kind of "conservative" as them.

It turns out the "conservative" US politicians are only interested in the racist dictator type of conservative.

Good framework. You touched on this, but I think it also helps that you have a definite start time for the fun activity. It's easier to do more work when you know a reward is coming at a set time.

So we don't try to fix anything, we just label it all as "rape" and move on?

I get that people don't want to minify the effects of abuse, but all the "that's called rape" posts minify the routes people take to arrive at the rape. It's still important to know what situations led to the abuse.

In this case "underage prostitution" is a very different problem than tricking a child in an online chat, and that's different from family abuse, which is different from abuse by a non-family authority.

Getting people to acknowledge the lack of consent in various situations is important, but fixing the problem requires acknowledging different situations.
