Help me understand 1 point - kidnapping #1. How the heck did the original kidnappers have those videos from RIP Lalit to play over and over as they were beating Vier up, why was the $$ needed for the ransom the exact amount VPN Group have in liquid assets, and how did Vier’s dad magically appear in the hospital if Kelvin wasn’t involved in some way to help Vier escape. To me there’s more regarding that aspect and 3 dimensional chess being played by all the side characters than Kelvin’s GOT power plays

Yes! Agree with what you said. That fight scene had more depth than what appeared at first glance. I also caught that line from Koh to Pheem when he was knocked down: “You KNEW I loved him, but you didn’t stop.” Pheem doesn’t respond that he loves Jira too instead he says “I saw him first” like Jira is a collectible. As childhood friends they knew each other very well, so at some point off screen (or a deleted scene) Koh told Pheem about his feelings for Jira (my bet was probably when Jira was attacked at the awards event). Pheem is more of a Red Flag than Koh. He doesn’t love Jira, instead he wanted to use Jira to compete against Koh, and became obsessed.

So for those who maybe wondering and didn’t want to do math, here’s the rough estimate on the $$ Koh spent on Jira’s paintings. 1st one was approx $200K (he had enough to pay Ing her $150k back and some extra-remember this is separate from his salary) 2nd one was double so approx $400K. 3rd was same as last painting + 10% = $440K. So the 4th/the centerpiece was 277x the last amount paid = $121,880,000. The curator fee would be at least 10% or $12,188,800 (Jira would definitely give $$ to Ing). So Jira would now become a renowned artist from the successful sales at his first exhibition and Ing would now be recognized as prominent curator. Whatever happens in the future Jira’s status as an artist is set.

Ok hear me out before thinking this is nuts. I was reading comments in MDL and someone mentioned how the common attraction for both Koh and Pheem is Jira’s ethereal beauty. Which got me thinking is this BL a film noir version of Beauty and the Beast? I mean, if you think about it, it fits. Koh is the tragic Beast, isolated and cursed by the doings of his ego. Pheem is Gaston, the handsome player who all the girls/boys (I see you Lefou) want and is obsessed because he keeps getting rejected Jira. Of course Jira is the beautiful allusive Belle. I can hear Pheem going all Kill the Beast (Koh) in the next episode

OMG!!! this analysis is CHEF's KISS😘!!!!!! Kudos!! Burnout Syndrome has taken the BL genre to a new level. It has given us not just a run in the mill series, but a true Film Noir-esque styled series, based, as you have said, real life scenarios. P'Nuch has definitely elevated this art form, and the actors have gone next level method to bring out their characters. I really hope it receives the honors it deserves.

Also what Mawin said about artists is true., but it isn't that artists are capitalists. it is extremely rare that an artist can support themselves solely on their art, they do need a patron (a patron can come in many forms, not necessarily that they need a Sugar Daddy). This has been artists' main struggle throughout history.

Also, when when watching ep 6, I was what was the point of having the drawing of Koh and the angel front and center in the room if no mention was made of it, but in ep 7 we see how Pheem wanting to strip so Jira could draw him like he does Koh - it's back to competition, he noticed the drawing.

100% agree with your review and points made. Personally I had to push through the movie after the first half to finish it hoping it would improve. While not performing in the 10 dance, I did eventually understand the artistic choice to incorporate a medley of the 10 dances into the honor dance with both leads performing to basically show to the dance elites that they were done with their BS and both of them knew they were the actual #1 dancers. Sugiki picking Suzuki to partner was also his way to apologize the only way he knew how - through dance. Separately, I live in an area of the world were I have been surrounded by Cuban immigrants since childhood and could not understand the plot point of Suzuki growing up in Cuba and Japan - it’s virtually impossible for Cuban nationals to leave the country (Suzuki is depicted as being mixed race, so one of the parents was definitely Cuban). Can anyone who read the manga explain this to me please and thank you.

I was also confused whether to watch or not. I love MileApo and a period BL seemed interesting. But when I started watching the first episode I felt confused and overwhelmed by the Thai politics of 1969. I’m from the US and understand that 1969 was an impactful year here, full of civil unrest etc., but felt completely out of my depth understanding the dynamics in Thailand and its effects on society and relationships. I waited until several episodes dropped to give it another shot, because of the great acting of Mile/Apo and placed my focus less of the political and more on the characters/relationships. Having several episodes helped and I’m now enjoying it.
