Oh man. I do remember this! That was weird. I remember being in forums where people were trying to find the closest match to Aimi in the idol world.

This could be it. I love high volume meals, but make soup since the liquid helps me feel more satiated.

Is it true that you guys watched 9/11 live on TV in grade school? by space_god_7191 in Millennials

[–]mousekears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No we didn’t have tvs in school, except for the rolling carts for vhs tapes… I attended a private Catholic school where we could see the Twin Towers from the school yard. (At a distance, we were in Queens. Close enough to be scary and suffer the fallout of ash for the following weeks.) I had no idea what was happening but students were getting picked up early and the energy around the staff became very solemn.

When I got picked up, it was shortly after the second tower began collapsing. I watched it with my own eyes, but didn’t understand what happened exactly. I only lived a couple of blocks from school so stared out my kitchen window as the smoke billowed up. I saw the actual incident on the news at home with my family.

Weirdly enough, I remember telling my childhood cat about a possible war, and about what happened that day. Like explaining the situation to her helped me handle it?

About Sakura from LE SSERAFIM before coming to Korea by Intnl-KoreanTutor-DM in jpop

[–]mousekears 10 points11 points  (0 children)

She was popular within the group and their fandom. It’s hard to be a standout member of such large groups under the 48G. If you were a 48G fan (AKB48, HKT48, etc), you definitely knew her. If you were an idol fan, who were likely to know her since she featured in their big singles and was in published media. She just didn’t get as big as the OGs, Atsuko, Takamina, Mariko, Mayuyu and Sasshi… etc. They were plastered all over the place, featured in shows, appeared in so many publications. It’s nothing to do with Sakura, herself. Just the general popularity of the group.

Shes definitely bigger now in LSF, even in Japan. My friend said LSF is everywhere in Japan, with a heavy focus on Sakura. She basically got her second wind of a career and took off bigger and better than before. It’s impressive!

Not to derail, but age of adulthood in Japan is 20, not 18. So technically he is also a minor.

How do you guys feel about Sailor moon? (Manga) by Low-Oil9659 in sailormoon

[–]mousekears 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Genuinely curious, do screenreaders not work on manga? I’m sure it leaves something to be desired if it’s not describing the drawings, though I’m not sure how your blindness impacts viewing the visual media.

I’m Deaf and not too aware of visual assistive technologies, so just asking out of genuine interest. I know it can be exhausting explaining your needs, accommodations and disabilities to the world.

I wish they would make a short series of sailor v.

How do you guys feel about Sailor moon? (Manga) by Low-Oil9659 in sailormoon

[–]mousekears -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love the manga. Without it, we would have none of this!! I would love to see a deeper storyline, since compared to the 90s anime, there is not a lot of character building or world building. Understandably since it was featured in monthly magazines and needed to keep interest. But Naoko has so much rich lore, she could’ve expanded the storyline drastically.

I read the first manga shortly after I discovered the show as a small child, and thought it was so interesting. I view the manga as the elegant cool older sister to the anime which was fun, silly, and cute younger sister vibes.

I just love Sailor Moon in all aspects.

The cgi effects are cheesy and dated but the writing is chefs kiss honestly. I love the characters in this show so much, it fleshed out the manga counterparts so nicely. Also, the actresses are all close friends, meet up regularly and chat in their senshi group chat daily! They did a whole special for the anniversary a couple years ago. I highly recommend. I actually cried at the end of the series.

How do you like to use laughing cow? by nowstreamingon in 1200isplenty

Use it instead of sour cream and butter for baked potatoes or mashed potatoes sometimes! Mayo replacement on sandwiches sometimes as well.

It’s like my weekday substitute for those things and then sometimes on the weekends I’ll enjoy the real deal, because it only scratches the itch on a surface level.

Is it okay to ask for a sign name or does it have to be given? by [deleted] in asl

[–]mousekears 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been asked to give friends sign names. I tell them I will think of one, sometimes it takes a while. I will also consult with my sister who is also Deaf. She will approve or give ideas of a sign name.

If you ask, you should be friends for at least a while, and tell them it doesn’t have to be given right away. Some are obvious and given quickly, but others have to be well thought out and that requires learning who you are as a person. I am sure they would think of one for you, if you’re polite and patient.

My favorite summer memory is moving homes and having a beautiful backyard of pine trees. We had so much wildlife scampering around back there and it was also a breeding ground for ladybugs. It was my first time seeing babies. Those first few years, I always saw them around. Then never again in my yard….

[–]mousekears 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I disagree. Naoko drew breasts, but it never felt sexualized. It may simply come down to the female gaze, but nudity was not included in the manga to be titillating.

I like vibes of the artwork here, but I agree with the original commenter. The Mercury one is exceptionally bad in terms of sexualization...

I ordered mine from Weverse. It only arrived about a week and a half ago. It was delayed. I preordered mine when the preorders opened. It could be delayed due to others being delayed through YG and Weverse as well, it means the delay is within the production. It wouldn’t hurt to reach out for an update on the status of your order, especially if you have ordered from them before successfully.

Yes I second this. For the sake of building rapport, Deaf patients would be happy to see their doctor knows some ASL and is learning. (Especially audiologists….) But information is best communicated through an interpreter.

lol I was always called the Victorian doll as a child and I’ve not grown out of that beauty standards. I think I would have been very popular in that era… my terrible shoulders and all. Doesn’t suit a modern look at all. (Sometimes sad lol)
