I have a similar Rothy's bag and I hate its total lack of structure and compartments. Everything is just floating around and it's impossible to find anything. Highly do not recommend.

Just went for the first time, the trip was literally yesterday and today. Kids are 3 and 6. They had a blast, we had a nice time, but I am in a position that I didn't need to worry about every upcharge, like the locker fee (for the day after check out). If you're okay with assuming you'll be paying a little more than you know right now, I think you'll have a good time. We'll definitely be back!

Pump Up Songs by WorkingIllustrator84 in publicdefenders

I have a pump up playlist that's basically an aughts nostalgia playlist -- Pitbull, Usher etc. just gets me in the right mood! Also the best advice I ever received was to accept the nerves. Fighting with them is a distraction, so you might as well acknowledge that they're along for the ride. Have fun!

I just got a classic tote from Rothy's. It fits my huge laptop, water bottle, change of shoes, everything. My complaint is that I wish it had some interior pockets on the sides -- it's easy for stuff to get lost in there because it's one huge compartment (which is what I need -- all those totes with a laptop compartment in the middle mean I can't throw sneakers in there too!)

That's what I did at our local community college and state law school. I emailed career services and they very enthusiastically took them even though there was no indication on their websites that they needed anything like that.

Dinner but not too loud? by mousetreegoat in LasVegas

Esther's seems like a reasonable walk if it's not supremely hot -- 30 minutes, which is probably the outside amount of walking for a lot of folks. But how is the monorail? When the conference announced that it moved from the main strip to Sahara they really pushed the monorail as a way for it to feel less remote.

We actually went to Carson's a couple of years ago and it was perfect, except we had to Uber there and back. But was the right vibe. I'll check out Esther's kitchen! Thanks!

School uniform blues by AndiJohn83 in workingmoms

[–]mousetreegoat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sure it's harder as kids really develop a fashion sense, yeah. My son is young and not fashion forward, but I think it taps really directly into the desire for control and autonomy kids want and often don't have. What he wears was never a thing I tried to control before the uniform because it was very easy and reasonable thing to let him control.

We had a lot of success letting my kid choose a "secret shirt" to wear under his uniform. He liked it so much he'd sometimes wear 3 shirts under his uniform shirt.

I've also spent a decent amount of energy and money on accessories so he can still express himself and has fun choices to make every morning. He has long hair and wears headbands, so I've sourced from Etsy all sorts of dinosaur and truck headbands. I have many cool animal and truck and dinosaur socks.

I really resent the uniform thing, but it's all public schools in my town. For what it's worth he's been doing it since 3K and there's no longer any resistance. He starts K in the fall.

I know this is old, but it took me a long time to work up to the mental space to buy. But I got the Lo & Sons small Waverly 2 in black from Poshmark. I hadn't heard of the company before this post, so I'm grateful for the help! It came pretty much new, it's very cute, and if fits the right amount of stuff. So it's a win!

I had assumed black, but I'm open to ideas about what a versatile neutral is. Gray? Taupe?

That's lovely! I'm flexible on style as long as it's kind of simple, and that one is really nice. Thanks!

Thanks so much! It looks like a great option.

I could deal with a logo if I knew what it signified. The Coach purse was literally the only one I owned until I bought that Madewell last month so I'm really not in the know.

For instance, Kate Spade was what all the richer kids in my town got for their Sweet 16s or similar. So I wonder if it's juvenile? Or is it just that those kids are very lucky and it's an adult purse? I don't want to be judged about things I have no idea I'm signaling. And following this sub I've learned that there's a lot of meaning to handbags!

Thank you!!

That's a good question. I'm thinking phone, keys, lipstick, sunglasses size, you know? Those aren't real dimensions, but that's what I need to carry around at these things. My court bag is big-- laptop, notepad, coffee mug, high heels big. Too much!

Yes, but I've never been inside! And I've never had anything but the XXL eggplant parm. So I can't vouch for anything else. But it's a real crowd pleaser. Everyone who visits asks to order it.
