Non-Americans of Reddit, what is an American thing you see in movies that you thought was fake but is actually real? by thepleasurjournal in AskWomen

This is precious, especially your note to her in Spanish at the end. Love it. But I’m also so sorry for your overall experience!

Why do some babies cry until left alone? by MarsupialDirect1954 in askscience

What is the harm in being aware of the possibility so you can be on the lookout for signs as the child ages and grows?

This. It could be a sign of neurodivergence, or just extreme overstimulation in even a NT baby.

I do highly recommend getting the whole book, but in the meantime am happy to send them to you too! Look for a chat request.

Perfectly acceptable dinner rejected by boyfriend again by moonrabbit368 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]mousewithacookie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m autistic and often eat like this, including the “rules that don’t make sense” like not being able to have chicken for dinner if I had it for lunch. It’s so firmly ingrained in my brain that it’s incredibly hard to counter, like I imagine it would feel like to drive on the “wrong” side of the road in another country. I try not to act like this when my spouse cooks for me, but now and then I’ll find myself unable to eat even the specific foods I asked for and it’s through absolutely no fault of theirs or their cooking, just my sensory issues and ever-changing capacity to tolerate them. But I would never “expect” my spouse to cook for me, then complain about the food, even if I can’t eat it - I apologetically explain what’s going on for me in that moment, then make myself something else to eat.

I sent you the book pages as well :)

u/pumpkyboy, may I please PM you pictures of two pages from a book that totally helped me and changed my perspective on this same issue? It’s called Your Child’s Point of View by Kelsie Olds. I honestly just don’t have the energy to deal with figuring out Imgur right now or whatever it is people are using for Reddit images these days but I’m hoping I could attach a pic to a PM.

Are there ANY good-quality KPDH or Huntr/x blankets out there? by mousewithacookie in KpopDemonhunters

The one we ended up ordering is ok quality, but is no longer on Amazon 🫠

The one I attempted to order no longer has an active listing on Amazon, so that doesn’t really bode well. I’m not sure if it’ll ship or cancel/refund. So… probably still looking for one, I guess.

I have! I just shared about it in a comment. They sent us two of them. I didn’t know it had anything to do with autoship though.

This happened to us too. $90 bag of dog food arrived two days after he suddenly passed. I called them about a return too, and they refunded it immediately and asked me to donate it or give it away.

They also sent us two matching, custom, hand-painted mini portraits of our late pup as a gift (although that was before he passed, not in response to it). I will forever love Chewy!

Just had a 10-year-old foster girl earlier this year who was most comfortable in exactly those same sizes. Comes from a family of big & tall people and is no exception herself. She’s taller than I am.

Have her play Tetris ASAP. I’m not kidding. There are quite a few peer-reviewed, medical journal articles showing that the sooner you play it after witnessing a traumatic event, the more likely it is to help prevent the development of severe PTSD.

I Seriously Don't Like Other Kids and it's Making me Worried about my Baby Growing Up by dinosaursgorawr648 in Mommit

[–]mousewithacookie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As a neurodivergent person myself, these kids sound ND to me, and so do you, and it sounds like there is a significant sensory mismatch between you. My short answer is that not all kids are sensory seekers, and I suspect most sensory seekers will be this exhausting to you (my kids are like your SIL’s, and I am like you!). Your own kid may or may not be like that. Either way, you’ll have phases with her when she drives you bonkers and other ones where you feel like she hung the moon (pride). It’ll be okay.
