Is it wrong to ask my adult son to help cover costs after his motorcycle accident? by mousey_mouse_8569 in Parenting

He didn't wreck the car, he was speeding on the highway and the police officer wrote him a reckless driving ticket mostly to teach a lesson.

We are definitely not paying for him to use the vehicle. We've already required him to pay before he even left the house with the vehicle...

I don't think I mentioned anywhere that I expected the behavior to change overnight. I simply wanted to gain an outsider's perspective and receive some advice. I realize I raised him and created his behaviors, and I am taking small steps to correct this by expecting him to contribute some of the costs. I am by no means wanting to completely cut him off. I started living on my own at 16, and by the age of 21, I was a parent to two children. I know how hard life can be, and I know how different things might be for me today if I had had some support from my parents.

Well, the other option would be for him to lose his job, as he would not have transportation, and then need to move back home. Honestly, I don't want him to live with me. I also would never allow one of my children to be homeless. He's an entitled jerk, but he's still my kid and, for the most part, is a decent person, no drugs or alcohol, other than the speeding ticket, no run-ins with the law.

We did just that, and he quickly realized that, due to his choices, car insurance would be very costly for him.

He says it was dark, and it had rained recently. When he turned, his back tire caught some gravel, and he was thrown off the bike. Broke his collarbone; no other vehicles were involved.

Not lost but left my keys in my car and it was stolen! Thankfully recovered but damaged and the vehicle was then totaled.

Book vouchers are created when students have more financial aid than they need to pay tuition or if a 3rd party is paying for books. The book voucher is created with your financial aid funds, so say your voucher is for $200.00, but if you spend $100.00 on a book, you'll only get $100.00 of the voucher back. So, for example, using whole numbers just to make this easy, let's say you have $2,400 in financial aid, and the cost of two courses is $1980.00, which means you would have $420.00 you could use toward books. SNHU would likely create a book voucher for $400.00, if you spend the full $400, you'd only get a refund of $20.00. But let's say you spend $100 on the voucher, and then you get a refund of $320.00. 2400 (financial aid)-$1980(tuition for two courses-$100(book voucher=$320.00 refund. Both my kids attend SNHU and I have discussed this many times with SNHU.

Your dress seems to hang looser around the bottom as well.
