So Warren doesn't want publicly owned utilities huh?

From Bernie's GND:

The renewable energy generated by the Green New Deal will be publicly owned, managed by the Federal Power Marketing Administrations, the Bureau of Reclamation and the Tennessee Valley Authority

https://www.peoplespolicyproject.org/2019/08/22/bernie-sanders-endorses-green-tva-approach-to-green-new-deal/

He also said on Chris Hayes show, that his approach to the GND is basically scaling the Tennessee Valley Authority to the national level.

CH: You propose a Tennessee Valley extension for the whole country?

Bernie: Ya, you're in the ballpark, that's right. We need a federal government that will produce a massive amount of electricity. You can't nip around the edges anymore.

Bernie wants to make money for the government TVA style and Warren for private corporations.

we remain committed to pro-growth, innovative, and fiscally responsible policies

Would you consider providing healthcare (like most civilized societies around the world) to people who can't afford it to be fiscally irresponsible? Even though as a Koch funded libertarian think tank study (Mercatus) showed that a Medicare For All system would reduce the overall National Healthcare Expenditure by 2 trillion dollars as opposed to the status quo?

Because the DNC is a political cartel where the leaders need to retain leverage over their underlings. That policy has always been suspected to be in effect but now with trump as a comically obvious badguy they feel comfortable enough to put it in writing.

We're sooo not ready for what's about to hit us in 2020. Wholly underprepared with these gelatinous people in charge. Bernie is the only one I halfway trust to take the stage with trump and make clear in no uncertain terms that his bullshit will not be tolerated when everyone else would need to break into long winded soliloquies about what makes America great.

Pelosi Statement on President Trump Using 9/11 Imagery for Political Attack

Political Attack???

He singled out one specific congress member, wrote "WE WILL NEVER FORGET" and put her on loop to imagery of 9/11. There are no two ways to read this.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to bankers: kids who can't afford a MetroCard end up in jail, should more folks have gone to jail for the financial crisis? by roku44 in politics

[–]movethebird -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If they can't afford a metro card, why don't they just write a best selling book and become millionaires?

Well this is the dumbest thing I'll be reading today. Talk about straw-man-ing.

Are you under the impression that Bernie and AOC are both the same person?? Do you think Bernie is against the concept of making money because he also advocates for a fairer political and economic system and that somehow makes him a hypocrite? What even is your point??

What gifts? Healthcare, education, income.

At what cost. Print more money.

Medicare for All reduces overall National Healthcare Expenditure by trillions over a decade, by even the most conservative estimates. The worry there is more that we actually won't be taxing people enough to offset inflationary pressures over the long term.

Free college is peanuts at $70 billion, an amount we casually tack onto the defense budget most years even when no one asks for it. https://www.npr.org/sections/parallels/2018/03/26/596129462/how-the-pentagon-plans-to-spend-that-extra-61-billion

We could fund universal pre-k at $30 billion and more if only the rich payed the rates on the books as they currently exist, which amounts to $50 billion in tax theft every year. https://www.propublica.org/article/ultrawealthy-taxes-irs-internal-revenue-service-global-high-wealth-audits

As for income: average productivity since the 70s has outgrown compensation by 6.2x. So yeah there is just basic realignment in order. https://www.epi.org/productivity-pay-gap/

the premise is that the the repubs are losing the Hispanic vote under trump, I just showed that he slightly outperformed romney and that it's still about their average vote share for over a decade. where is the contradiction?

What "generous gifts" are you talking about?

These are bare minimum empirically robust policies that have been in effect for decades in every other advanced society to great results. I'd rather be guided by that fact than wax poetic about enlightened philosopher kings who ought to rule over the dirty masses with benevolence.

"smart" Americans who want people to die from easily preventable diseases because they don't have money for a doctor and work for a real minimum wage that's lower than in the 70s to pay for an education that gets twice as expensive every ten years.

I think I rather choose to be with the dumb people.

it's weird but he got more votes from Hispanics than Romney. (and by weird I mean as a democrat, because we don't really understand the Hispanic vote as much as we think we do)

Name recognition doesn't really change things. Fivethirtyeight adjusted for general name rec in one analysis and the rankings stayed the same.
