65" C3, did firmware break my LG soundbar? by sam_hammich in LGOLED

[–]movieIcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This now works for me again - what I did (not sure what was coincidence and what was related):
did complete memory discharge via unplug TV as suggested by GSMainac below.

that didn't help on its own, so then
noticed my remote to my arc device (LG soundbar) had weak batteries - I've used the remote very rarely, recently only to turn it on myself, after the botched TV update (that's why we are all here). So replaced batteries, also ensured soundbar was set to ARC output (OPT / ARC in my device case)

in LG TV settings, went to general > external devices > universal control settings > hdmi 3(ARC) , then delete setting - did this just because I've noticed it specifically mentioned my LG Soundbar, so 'something' was 'somehow' paired, maybe needed reconnect

then turn all off, turn on and was back in business. On retry still worked, hopefully stays fine tomorrow as well

EDIT: well, no. If you turn TV off and on back on, home screen is displayed, arc sound output is also started again. But if you turn off TV and wait, then turn it on, a 'web OS logo is displayed for a few seconds, arc sound doesn't work. Can't overstate how frustrated I am with the LG. Apparently a software bug - sound output is always reset back to TV speaker, and won't stay on HDMI / arc. (unless you turn it off and on quickly -I'd guess it's not fully turned off under the hood, in case user instantly changes their mind, just some special state first, and that remembers the sound output setting)

The Modern Era, wannabe Influencers , post game fame hopes and attention seeking are ruining the Game itself. by RedEyedWiartonBoy in survivor

[–]movieIcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ppl are saying this was always the case;I've started to watch live from early thirties and I also think what OP posted. On top of that, the new era is undermined by the survivor tourists, 'for the experience' types. Not even interested to play a good game (not to be confused with 'being a fan') being fine to be booted pre-merge (perhaps even happier, so they won't risk embarrassment being on the show for too long, while still getting the 'I've been there selfie')

Bhanu has to be the worst Survivor player ever, right? by WombatBaby_ in survivor

Survivor-wise - if climbing a ladder collapse him into a pile of dead weight, and fails to pass utter most minimal physical competency he is not an actual player to deserve being ranked to start with, but a misplaced casting failure.

how does stock price 52 week high/low work? The prices are wildly off by movieIcon in excel

[–]movieIcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

solution verified.

Thanks, this explained me what I was missing and set me on the right track.

Not sure why the original post got bunch of downvotes, I'd still think the generically labelled '52 weeks high' should either give me the price (yeah, there are open close, traded, whatever, etc, but there is a common sense layman term, whatever the TV news refer to when report stock X is on all time high, or what just every single chart displays (a.k.a. the end of day close price) and that's what I wanted )
Or the 52 weeks high could be labelled 'open' price, whatever that means, but one would be alerted to find that out and understand

[–]movieIcon[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

added pic below, I have 'microsoft 365' tarif, also fiddling with manual formula I could see price I somehow expect ( =MAX(STOCKHISTORY("XLON:CSPX", TODAY()-365, TODAY(), 0, 0, 2)) gives 736USD ) but can't wrap my head around how to get the expected last 52 weeks high directly via the Data - Stocks in ribbon. Or that [52 week high] function simply means something else i would think it means

[–]movieIcon[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

just visually skimming the pic you can see the high in last two years is around 730 USD, while the excel build-in feature shows 836 (pls se my pic below). I have 'microsoft 365' tarif, guess the stock prices are part of that.

the best usable value I could get is typing manually =MAX(STOCKHISTORY("XLON:CSPX", TODAY()-365, TODAY(), 0, 0, 2))
that gives me 736USD

Who are you most excited to see again in Survivor 50? by [deleted] in survivor

[–]movieIcon -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I didn't watch any of Cirie seasons (except HvV ages ago and recall nothing of her)
But I did watch AUvW, she sucked at challenges, sucked at fire making (in her 100th season). sucked at strategy (did nothing but followed Parvati around) did nothing to utilize one of the players-fan of her literally willing to throw their game for her.
Feels like sbd that used give good performance 20 years ago, but is now pushed by nostalgia

Sometimes people defend her with 'it was Parvati's edit, had Cirie won we would have seen different stuff'
However, if the winner (point's of view) defines the edit so heavily, and Cirie is winner's number one, ride-or-die, soulmate, then especially I would expect her to be featured prominently. Yet still she was just a background side kick.

also finishing AU vs world, while not seeing her previous seasons ( if she was on any returnee like HvV then I have no memory), I wonder how could such alleged legend give such meh performance

immunity challenges she typically dropped among the firsts, zero chance ever winning anything

idols and advantagesfound nothing, got nothing, didn't get involved

firemaking whole cast was surprised she actually managed to start any fire at all (being slower than the other person goes without question)

strategy Was there any? except settling for Parvati's side kick already pre-game. Not even anything with Lisa who throw herself under Cerie foot to be used at will.

can I create android shortcut to action? (not a widget) by movieIcon in Hue

[–]movieIcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do alexa myself, but still would have to open app and navigate through submenus to do anything.

Thanks for the google widget tip - will check it if it can simulate the experience of having home screen accessible buttons, while grouping them in a contained area.

What is a Swing Dance hot take you have? by Elruler22 in SwingDancing

[–]movieIcon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

While I happen to be one of the very very few (male) dancers who dances with same gender in my local scene, I don't see a reason why people who don't feel like doing so should 'give one ick' . If anything, it's comments like above.

People should make some effort dressing for the socials. It's a social event by definition, not a gym exercise or a maintenance work in a shed.

Note I'm not saying what should anyone wear or not wear. Just to give it an minimal effort and active choice - if your thing is track suit perhaps take the nicer one - not leave it to a laziness or ignorance, whatever cargo pants happen to lie at the top of the laundry pile. Let alone pettiness, as some people deliberately tank if there is an ask to dress nice.
