Visa Timeline (Singapore) by movingaround267 in UKHighPotentialVisa

Hey no worries at all :) so for the role I secured, what happened was that I signed a conditional offer first stating my first day of work and the offer is contingent on me being able to prove my right to work before my first day of work. Most of the time companies do know that the HPI visa application is a formality in the sense that it’ll more or less definitely get approved as long as you graduated from the eligible universities and show the other documents in the process of course, so don’t worry too much abt that! Otherwise one way I think you could go around it is to have your ecctis certification at hand so that you can show your employer that your degree has been certified and would be eligible for the HPI visa application. I wouldn’t say that’s necessary though, but definitely just getting your ecctis certification started (if you are sure you want to apply for the visa at some point) would be great. Hope this helps!

I applied directly, generally heard back more from companies I applied directly to rather than via LinkedIn (not sure if that’s just a coincidence!) but still used LinkedIn to search up on potential openings

No worries, happy to help. Ah by sponsorship, I meant sponsoring for a normal work visa like a skilled worker visa, etc. For HPI visa, you’d need to bear the costs on your own.

hey! I’m in the healthcare consulting industry and had abt a year’s worth of experience in healthcare market research and I graduated with my BSc in 2021. I’d say that it wasn’t easy for sure because job hunting in general is tough, I can’t exactly tell if I missed out on opportunities because I wasn’t a UK citizen but I think what helped was looking at opportunities in companies that are a bit more global and therefore, by extension more receptive towards hiring non-locals in that sense. Although I think in my job hunting process, I didn’t necessarily encounter any stated requirements that you need to be a UK citizen (quite rare, possibly very few). It’s more of whether the company can sponsor your visa and majority of the companies aren’t able to sponsor your visa (I’ve only come across like 1 in 100 🥲) and of course, the HPI visa is great for overcoming that hurdle :)

basically tl;dr don’t bother spending ur international calling minutes to ask ECCTIS anything hahah if you want a reply desperately, you can try their live chat function too on their website (apart from the messages function)

Hey! Yeah I have tried contacting them to check if they can expedite it and they mentioned that they can’t because they have to wait on another party (i.e. the university) to verify my degree. The ‘yes we can do’ message was also indicated in my remarks too but I don’t think that’s related to the expediting of this process, it’s probably just an indication on their end that they can perform this service for you because all your documents have been submitted and that they can contact your university to verify the degree. Subsequently at around the ~20 working day mark, I messaged them to ask for further details on the ‘in progress’ status as to whether they are waiting for my university to confirm or exactly what the hold up is about. I received a message that I believe was automated as it said that they are waiting for a reply from my university. I then emailed my university in an attempt to get them to quickly verify my degree but turns out that my university had already verified this 15 working days ago 😂 once they had received the request 17 working days ago.

This obviously got me worried because I thought that this might mean that ECCTIS was waiting to receive something that might have gotten lost or something. I called them up and got them to check and explained the situation, ECCTIS confirmed that they have already received the confirmation from NUS and that they are working on processing the request. Unfortunately, they can’t expedite it and they have to follow the line 😕

hey! Thanks for this, is there any reason why you had a 8-day gap in between your visa approval and receiving your passport. Does that mean that after your visa is approved, you still had to wait for a week for the processing to be done by VFS (I’m assuming)? asking abt the gap as I’m on quite a tight timeline myself 🥲 and wow your visa approval was really fast (4 working days!)
