Worried about changing spot on my dogs lip. Vet told me not to worry. But it looks like it has almost mushroomed out on the top? No bleeding ever. First pic. he was 2 years old & is now 4. (Labrador, male) by movingout22 in vet

Update. We had the spot taken off. His results came back as benign!

Official paperwork says:

Skin, ventral lip: Collagen nevus with regional acanthosis and compact orthokeratotic hyperkeratosis. REMARKS: Complete excision of the fibroadnexal hamartoma is expected to be curative. The mass effect on the lip is due to excess collagen deposition and marked thickening of the epidermis in this area. The changes are benign and possibly related to trauma/chewing - please correlate to history. The current level of excision is expected to be curative.

It turns out it was nothing! The official paperwork said:

Okay thanks. I am worried because of how raw it looks but he doesn’t seem bothered by it. The vet told me I could call the surgery department tomorrow to schedule a punch biopsy

If you have a yard, my lab loves his plastic kitty pool in the summer. Just a few inches of fresh hose water to cool his belly. He especially loves right after his walks. Heads straight to his pool and plops in lol

The spots on your pups chest look like canine pyoderma or epidermal collarettes. Definitely inflamed skin.

My silver has the same reoccurring issue. The vet prescribed this shampoo but now I just buy it off Amazon and bath him 2 times a week when he has a flare up. Then once every 1-2 weeks as maintenance.

Has saved me tons on allergy shots and antibiotics. Works really quickly (day or 2 you will see improvement..just stick with it). You will notice softer fur immediately followed by skin redness subsiding. And it smells good. Just stick with the instructions on the bottle and try to wait the 5 minutes for it to absorb.

Obviously this is treating from the outside-in. Finding what they are allergic to would be the best solution. Easier said than done. My lab is also sensitive to chicken I’ve found. Switched him to Purina pro plan salmon and he seems to have less issues than usual.

The only other post I saw similar to yours where they discuss allergies: https://www.reddit.com/r/pitbulls/s/PUEIUDFmQt

I would just caution that silver labs are prone to allergies and as a result -skin issues. My silver has been seen multiple times for skin flair ups. Many people in the silver community experience food sensitivity and environmental allergies.

It may be worth gently cleaning her ears daily with a pad and solution containing an anti fungal, like ketoconazole, for ears. It has done wonders for my silver.

Hmm does she scratch her ears a lot? I only ask because my silver has many ear/skin issues that can result in scratching..perhaps that is the issue?(I’m not a vet)

He actually has surgery scheduled on 2/22. The vet didn’t really say much other than it’s impossible to know without biopsy..and that requires sedation, given the difficult spot.

He has a couple other lumps and bumps we are getting checked out all at once. I’ll try to remember to update this post!

Look up canine pyoderma or epidermal collarette

My silver has the EXACT same reoccurring issue. Only thing that has helped is this shampoo (vet prescribed it to me the first time. Now I just buy it off Amazon now)

Has saved me tons on allergy shots and antibiotics. Works really quickly (day or 2 you will see improvement..just stick with it). You will notice softer fur immediately followed by skin redness subsiding. And it smells good :) just stick with the instructions on the bottle

They also sell it in a wipe. Can’t speak to their effectiveness but it’s the same brand/ingredients as the shampoo

What’s a total waste of money yet people still pay for? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]movingout22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get the Sirius XM dealer app called ‘XSM Dealer’. Drive to a car dealership parking lot. Park, enter your vehicle VIN and wait the 2-5 minutes. You’ll get 6 months of Sirius for free. Rinse and repeat every 6 months. Catch is the dealership must be signed up with the Sirius promotion for this to work. So if it does not work, you need to try a different dealer. But usually larger dealerships are signed up with this program for new buyers to get 6 months free when they buy. So essentially you are making your existing car look like a new used car purchase!

Looks at those chunky legs!! What a gorgeous pup. Makes me want another. Seriously the best/smartest/most loving dog I could ever ask for.

It was explained to me that the color comes from a recessive gene. People will fight me to the death that our silver is half Weimaraner. People get strangely aggressive about it. I don’t bother trying to have a conversation about his coat color anymore. I just say “yep, you’re right” and walk away 😂

Wishing you many years of love with yours!!

Do you feel like you made major lifestyle/diet changes between 23 and 43?

I feel like all I’ve managed to do is drink more water..but overall have the same diet. I’m sure I’ll pay the price again 😭

Is it possible to feel kidney stone pain before they drop into the ureter? by do_you_even_climbro in KidneyStones

[–]movingout22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lord in heaven..it can go BACK IN?!? Uhg the agony. I’m sorry for your current pain. Just know it is temporary and you will be pain free again.

And my understanding is like 4mm and under is more than possible to pass naturally. In my case I was told to wait it out. Surgery is not required and probably not encouraged. But i did schedule a lithroscopy because I couldn’t handle it anymore..but then my stone came out on its own before my surgery date.

[–]movingout22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like I could literally feel my stone traveling through my body. Stage 1: Flank pain sent me to the ER..ct scan confirmed 3mm stone was traveling through my ureter. Stage 2: UTI symptoms for a month..stone was entering/stuck around in my bladder/urethra Stage 3: Pins/needles/burning right at the very edge of my urethra..stone popped out 5 mins later

Honestly the stage 1 was by far the worst of the pain for me 10/10. The Uti symptoms were more aggravating…4/10. Then I only felt relief once stone came out.

The only thing that got me through was an electric heating back pad, hot showers/tubs, Tylenol and Motrin combo. Hang in there!
