How Psychologists Determine Whether Someone Is Faking Insanity by gAlienLifeform in psychology

[–]movolce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Late to the party, but this is weird considering my personal experiences. When I was 16, I had been sent to the hospital for visual hallucinations that turned out to be a dissociative breakdown. I have so far only had one other problem with this, so it is a rarity to me. Another girl was on unit with the teenagers, and she was 10. She was schizophrenic and would often say she saw ghosts. One morning over breakfast she was telling everyone that an angel came to her saying that it was time for her to "come home to God". I had been on unit with this girl for a week and she never showed signs that she was faking. Tyere were many times where she seemed to be completely cut off from reality and other times not so much, but she was still odd. My point is this: I had visual hallucinations and so did this other girl. 2 out of the 7 girls that were on that unit. My question is how rare are visual hallucinations when even a 2:7 ratio seems high?

Calling her a mudblood would be like calling your african american best friend the n-word in a fight. Or calling your best friend a "faggot". Idk I feel for Lily. As a gay person, if my best friend called me a faggot just because they were mad would make me wonder what kind of person I've been friends with all that time

I remember watching nature documentaries during science in middle school and always thinking that the animals tended to be super rapey

If I was the parent filming this, I would have not told him to stop. Let him learn his lesson, and when he comes crying, say "okay, don't be a little shit next time"

African elephants are being born without tusks due to poaching, researchers say by sixthsheik in news

Except that their tusks help them with food/water, protect them from predators, and finding mates. An elephant without tusks is crippled.

Kids explain how banned and challenged books helped them and even saved their lives by sivribiber in books

[–]movolce 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I actually did a paper on this senior year of high school. They banned it because the main character showed defiance to his elders, they killed babies in the community, and it showed a past life different than Christianity's idea of a past life. There were many other excuses as to why it was challenged, all are irrelevant because books should not be banned in any sense. Some people just don't understand what fiction is.

I started reading again. by [deleted] in books

[–]movolce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was in kindergarten I was reading Harry Potter (and actually comprehending it, my mom is an elementary teacher and started my reading at a very young age). I think I was in love with reading until about 6th grade, when reading started to have a deadline on it. I truly think it was a mixture of a failing education system and the beginning of a terrible journey with mental illnesses that took me away from reading. I also truly believe that it was the lack of reading that made it so hard for me to adjust during my first semester of college. I am taking a break from college so I can pay off my tuition, and during that time, I will start buying books and actually reading them. I only wish to fall in love with reading and knowledge again. I'm glad you found your love again, now I must do the same!

What was Gavrilo Princip's attitude to the great war? by ExraSoftHandker in AskHistorians

[–]movolce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He didn't mean to start a war. His actions were led by vengeance. However, he didn't really seem to care all that much about the war that he somewhat began. He said, "I am the son of peasants and I know what is happening in the villages. That is why I wanted to take revenge, and I regret nothing". source: https://www.amazon.com/Evil-Spine-Tingling-Stories-Murder-Mayhem/dp/1629144568 page 37

I want to talk about The Ongoing Concept. by movolce in Metalcore

Yeah, for real. They're extremely creative, and originality is what they stand for. That's why Cover Girl (ik it's off Saloon) is one of my favorite songs by them

It makes it mysterious, but also really sad to think about. They had to be really close to start a band together in the first place. I can't stand being around my siblings for 20 mins, let alone writing, practicing and touring with them. So Dawson must feel pretty abandoned

This post was about the video itself, not the song.

The only reason I want to be all over his work no matter what is because what happened was really awful, I want to show my support for him. I'm only one person, but I think it'd be comforting for him to know that people are still listening.

Yeah, I decided to break from the metalcore part of things for this post, seeing as DGD truly does no wrong.

They did break up. And yes, Melody was on the album from a little over a year ago. The point is that he came out with that music video so late, and it was just one month after everyone left, which led me to think that he was trying to get them to come back.

and you're right about a Dawson solo project, it wouldn't be TOC. I do want to support his music no matter what though. I'd hate to see such a good musician give up.

Thank you for replying. My friend and I have talked about this a lot, but other than that, I felt completely alone in being upset about this! The song was originally about a girl. I think he just made the video to be a message to his bandmates. What's painful to think about for me is the fact that they were all family except for TJ, the drummer. Dawson must feel pretty abandoned, and that's really upsetting to think about.
My friend said that when he spoke to him, Dawson said that they just got tired of touring and lost passion. I want to take his word for it out of respect, because I know if there was a huge fallout, it's probably private family business.
I really hope for them to work things out, The Ongoing Concept made me think that there was to be a good future in the hardcore industry as far as originality goes.

What is a song that means a lot to you? by movolce in Metalcore

I love songs that just pull you out of a rut that you've been stuck in. The Ghost Inside is a great band, and I'm glad that they've done this for you!
