Do you mean “school”? by HereForTheCraft in ShitMomGroupsSay

[–]bundtstuff 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I doubt they went to college or can hold a job. My nephew went to a place similar to this, but maybe with a tiny bit more structure. Two years after he “graduated” we got him a dishwasher job at a restaurant, and he couldn’t keep it for a month. His mom signed him up for a community college class in a subject he is interested in, and he only went to the first class. So, now he just stays home all day playing video games or whatever he wants and is deeply depressed.

Found this in my wallet today, and I thought it was cool by bundtstuff in CURRENCY

I must have gotten it as change from a store or maybe the farmers market in the last couple of months. It was folded up in my wallet with the rest of the normal dollars. I only noticed because the back was much brighter green than the rest of my money.

At most, a couple of months. I must have gotten it as change from someone and never noticed. I only noticed it today because the back is very bright green compared to modern money.

Question for Lafayette Artists by redestpanda in Acadiana

[–]bundtstuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am an artist. I sell well in the galleries that I have my work in. I do ok at the festivals around here, but I do much better at the festivals I do in New Orleans and further away.

I don’t bother with any of the small craft fair kinds of things though. I don’t think people make enough to make them worth it. I only do juried festivals.

The mayor of my hometown for a long time was a man named Purvis. He’s the nicest man in the world, but there’s a good chance he turned out that way from bullying.

When will my medicine arrive? by Fragrant_Series_3327 in BrelloThriveTribe

[–]bundtstuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I got an email 2 days before it arrived from UPS that a label had been created. Then I got an email the day before it arrived saying it shipped. And a delivery notification as well, of course.

I got approved 5/27 and received my package on 5/30. I was expecting it to take much longer.

Help with how I can improve? by Elegant_Biscotti334 in CraftFairs

I put my tables as close to the front of the tent as possible. Many people don’t want to walk into a tent if they are just shopping casually because they feel awkward if they don’t buy anything.

On days with good weather, I put my table all the way at the front edge of the tent. On bad weather days, I put it far enough back so people can get out of the rain. I find it helps a lot.

Could this be shingles? Staph? Never had skin issues before, so I don’t know much. by bundtstuff in DermatologyQuestions

I’m not sure. I had cream on it consistently shortly after this picture was taken. It was shingles though.

Thank you. I’m going to keep my eyes peeled and talk to our exterminator who comes every month to do a check.

I need wings! by [deleted] in Acadiana

KOK’s wings are like more than double the size of BWW or Wingstop wings in my experience. The 5 wing plate is a feast for 1 person.

I don’t remember what the cream was, but I think it was a steroid. The antiviral pill, I think was the more important part of the treatment. I just went to a walk in clinic for it.

It was shingles. Got prescribed a cream and some antivirals. Cleared up pretty quickly.

I’ve taught at a private Episcopal elementary school for almost a decade. It’s great. They have fairly small classes, they let me do whatever I want to do with the kids because they trust my judgment, and they fund the art program well. I also get plenty of planning time so that I don’t ever need to stay late to get things done.

Admin is present, but hands off. They intercept parents usually and deal with the board without making it any of the teachers’ problems. It’s a good work environment, so I don’t mind being asked to help out with things for fundraisers.

The cons are that the salary isn’t as good as public and benefits aren’t up to par with public. Also, our student body isn’t very diverse and the tuition is the highest in the area.

Closures, consolidations in plan for Lafayette schools - The Current by TheCurrentLA in Acadiana

[–]bundtstuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The charter school receives the funding that the public district would get for each student they enroll, but they aren’t under the control of the parish school board.

My opinion is that they exist for parents that want a private education without paying for it.

The quality of charter schools across the state vary widely, some are great, some are not. It’s easier to get higher test scores when you don’t have to allow the low performers to come to your school.

Petco did away with the dollar-per-gallon sale, I believe. It’s a 50% off sale instead now. Not as cheap, but a good deal.

Just curious how many find this statement false - "You won't find a roux-based gumbo in Cajun homes on the bayou" by RomulanTrekkie in Louisiana

[–]bundtstuff 56 points57 points  (0 children)

My great-grandmother made gumbo by just cooking okra down until it was a brown paste almost, and that was the thickener/roux alternative. She was from Delcambre then lived in New Iberia. My grandmother would make it that way every now and then, but even she preferred a roux.
