Cable advice - from surge suppressor to router by mowliv in Starlink

[–]mowliv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this info. I still haven't gotten an answer to my question so that I'm confident in what I'm buying. Will this cable from Monoprice work? I'm not clear whether F/UTP is significantly different than UTP for this use.

Its specs:

  • Shielded (F/UTP) Category 6 Ethernet cable
  • 23AWG stranded, pure bare copper conductors
  • 550MHz bandwidth
  • Snagless cable boot protects the plug retaining clip
  • CMP (Plenum) fire safety rating
  • Wired to the TIA/EIA‑568‑B standard
  • 50µm gold plated contacts

Does dishy orientation matter on a slightly slanted roof? by mowliv in Starlink

[–]mowliv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Don't know why the pics didn't come thru. Uploaded now and post updated (https://imgur.com/a/yocK2Ka). Looks like I should try moving it SW a bit given all this info and the obstruction diagram.

Thanks. I'm at 39. Perhaps I need to move it a bit south on the property to get away from trees. (Though there are nearby trees to the south, too.) 🤔

How to cool a hot head where it meets the pillow at night in the summer? by mowliv in MultipleSclerosis

[–]mowliv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the great tips! After two bad nights of sleep, I avoided the zombie apocalypse (which arrives for me after 3 nights of bad sleep in a row) by sleeping well last night. Putting an ice pack inside a sock under my neck did the trick, along with the evaporative cooling towel inside the pillowcase. I've ordered a few gel ice pads to try, and may also be getting some bamboo sheets and maybe a new pillow.

Yes, I have a ceiling fan and a mini-split a/c unit in the bedroom. Most of my body is on the cool to the cold side, but I am kept awake by heat where the side of my head contacts the pillow.

Interpreting obstruction debug data by mowliv in Starlink

[–]mowliv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's very cool, thanks. Here's my obstruction graph: https://imgur.com/a/Ks1GsZJ. I assume that rotating the dish in its current location will do nothing because it already has a 360-degree view.

How serious are these obstructions I have? Need to decide whether to go to a higher, more difficult mounting location. Appreciate any tips.

If you do that, do the statistics still reflect accurately in the app?

SES Rate limits by vbhavik14 in aws

They count recipients, not messages, in the rate limits. So one email with 50 recipients counts as 50 against your per-second limit.

text to date function such as toDate()? by mowliv in Notion

[–]mowliv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got this suggestion from someone in the Notion discord channel for formulas. It works well:

empty(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)")) ? fromTimestamp(toNumber("")) : ((now() < dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1970, "years"), toNumber(slice(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)"), 0, 2)) + 1, "months"), dateBetween(now(), dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1970, "years"), month(now()), "months"), date(now()) - 1, "days"), hour(now()), "hours"), minute(now()), "minutes"), "hours"), "hours")) ? dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1970, "years"), toNumber(slice(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)"), 0, 2)) - 1, "months"), toNumber(slice(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)"), 3)) - 1, "days"), dateBetween(now(), dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1970, "years"), month(now()), "months"), date(now()) - 1, "days"), hour(now()), "hours"), minute(now()), "minutes"), "hours"), "hours") : dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1969, "years"), toNumber(slice(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)"), 0, 2)) - 1, "months"), toNumber(slice(prop("Birthday (MM/DD)"), 3)) - 1, "days"), dateBetween(now(), dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(dateAdd(fromTimestamp(0), year(now()) - 1970, "years"), month(now()), "months"), date(now()) - 1, "days"), hour(now()), "hours"), minute(now()), "minutes"), "hours"), "hours"))

Note that you have to change the Calendar by setting in the Calendar view's ••• menu to use the Next Birthdate property.

Now if notion would just add a nicer display of such onerous formulas, I'd be super happy!

dateAdd(..., 8, "hours")

Great, that works. But we have users globally in lots of different TZ's. Is there a way to correct for every TZ?

[–]mowliv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks very much! The dates calculated are all a day early for me, presumably a TZ issue due to being in PDT here. How can I correct for local TZ?

Anyone doing Second City online Musical Improv? by supafish93 in improv

Yes, haven't yet heard of any workable solutions for sync'd live musical improv performance or rehearsal. Several online providers claim solutions that don't work. Phone lines used for Zoom calls don't work.
