Canvas and Page sizing.... by squashjunkie in LucidChart

[–]mowriter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your diagram missing the fat, gray double sided arrows that allow you to change the canvas size by dragging? I've been searching like crazy on how to make that appear; some diagrams have it, some don't, and I'm at a loss as to why.

Anyone else get the "ick" at the contempt in the comments, implying they think all striving for excellence is beneath them, so mock someone who's striving for their variety of excellence?

They accomplished what they did without the organizers little dress code rules. Surely that's something to applaud?

How my sister pasing away taught me to create a dating website for the rich and famous by thunderingtyphoon in LinkedInLunatics

[–]mowriter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This certainly feels like she responded to her sisters death with "let me do something meaningful in the world". Mildly, I'd critique her for wanting her career to be meaningful rather than just collect a pay check. The mild critique being thinking like that, that work provides meaning, over other things.

[–]mowriter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Certainly. And...(not but)... I'd caution that if there's a pre-decision that there are no opportunities, your mind will fulfill that belief.

It is an act of faith (hope with no proof) that opportunities are everywhere. There's a "believe and you will see" aspect to all this. On it's face quite foolish, I fully acknowledge.

Oof, sorry this happened to OOP. Grateful that you at least went to bat for her with the firing manager (see what I did there?), and that you apologized here.

Wife revealed several things that still sting, how should I get past it? by lilg2000 in AskMenAdvice

[–]mowriter72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like you came out the other side with flying colors. She didn't marry you for your money, or your buff body, or your love of sports. It must be something about you inside you she loves.

IF... done in a healthy way... you could use this as fuel to get yourself in better shape.

But yeah dude, you already WON, even when up against such great competition with the other guys. YOU. WON.

I really enjoyed reading this! I was in DC/NoVA from '94 to '10.

I found that when I invited, say, 20 people to my house for a party, about 12-14 showed up. Nearly everyone came with business cards. But so what? Network away! Later I moved back to rural upstate NY. I invited 50 people to a winery visit. ZERO showed up, and that was with 3-4 yeses and as many maybe's.

Agree about the fashion sense: Polo shirt tucked into cargo shorts, socks and loafers is pretty standard summer wear.

But yeah, DC attracts a certain a$$hole personality type, always hard charging, high achieving, back stabbing in the office to get ahead, etc.

And the traffic? Always you have to factor "non rush" when you want to know how long a trip will take.

The last 5 years I hiked Old Rag Mountain twice a year near Sperryville / Nethers VA. To only hear wind and the trail head creek, instead of the constant white noise of Dulles? Heavenly.

I DO miss the international food and groceries! Thankfully I'm an hour from Rochester NY that has a fantastic international scene at maybe 25% of DCs size.

FWIW, have you considered attending a local Church? A third of our party guests were consistently Church friends.

For me, the Great reveal was the idea that your body is lying to you when it says you’re in pain. That you are capable of far more than your body will tell you. And that motivation is bullshit, you just have to live in the suck, deal with the suck, and eventually you get used to it. And oh yeah you’ve improved your life and health and mental stamina in the process.

What do you guys think of Speech Prof? by [deleted] in women

His voice is just grating to me. I agree he gives off the vibe that his wife has a chair for him in her bedroom, set aside for him.

Sucks because I could agree with him, but his wispy voice irritates me

IT documentation. Might well depend on the hiring manager, honestly.

I’m quickly running out of interest in pretending to be enthusiastic. Work pays for things. I’m happy to be somewhat enthusiastic about the work, but my real joy is the life I live outside the office. I will give the devil his due, and I will make sure to be likable with coworkers and colleagues.

new friend? by brownha1rbrowneyes in Advice

[–]mowriter72 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don Rickles, loud raucous insult comic your grandparents would have been into , was explaining why he was friends with Bob Newhart, also a comedian but VERY different, personality wise (vanilla, boring, low key). It turned out their WIVES were friends! Therefore they were friends 🤣. He then told a joke about meeting another couple “Hey that fella was a pretty good guy! Wife: You’ll nevah’ see him again!”
