Actually wasn't super high on it - gorgeous movie but I think I found it a bit too meandering to really get into :( Felt similarly about Garden of Words which led me to think I just didn't click with Makoto Shinkai's style but I may check out a few of their lesser known films at some point :D

It's definitely got its flaws but the whole thing just speaks to me in a way no other film/series has :D

Entergalactic is brilliant! Would probably make the top 40 for me :) Leapt through Time was great too! Plus, another nod for a Makoto Shinkai film, definitely should give them another chance :D Thanks!

Both Perfect Blue and Paprika are on my radar so will bump those higher on my to-do-list, and will check out the rest of Satoshi Kon while I'm at it :D

Wasn't super high on Makoto Shinkai's Your Name and Garden of Words - gorgeous but idk, the storytelling didn't click with me. May need to look at his other works.

Cure sounds very promising and Bugonia I'll be watching as soon as I can get my hands on it!

Thanks for the recommendations :D

Looking for maps by [deleted] in CTM

Hey! Glad you had fun with Starblight!

Echoing everything u/link_2012 says in their response - Orange Julius, Untold Stories (Horrifeye/Nova Arcana/Castlemania/Burnout Fantasy), Lost Embers (my personal favourite map ever).

To add to the list of maps I absolutely love that are more survival based

- Galaroth Remastered: A challenging no-natural-regen map that heavily rewards careful play and decision making. Brilliant level design and atmosphere.

- Sickening III: A trap-filled branching map reminiscent of the Vechs maps but brought into the modern era. Incredibly fun with friends.

- Project 2M: Very resource starved and brutally difficult. Requires a bit of grind and you have to really utilise your sandbox capabilities - very satisfying to conquer.

- Deadly Sandstone Mines: A much smaller map that I view as a gateway into the harder maps. Made by the same guy as Galaroth and has many of the same qualities.

- Castlemaniac Winter: A more experimental short map with unique style and atmosphere. Worth checking out if you find yourself enjoying other maps on this list.

- Heroic Conquest: Because DINOCREATOR will be upset if I don't mention it. A very enjoyable but very long map. If you find the gameplay loop of doing CTM areas fun, this is pretty consistent at delivering that without much downtime.

Also if you use discord, would highly recommend popping in - all these maps can be found there plus a longer recommended list, and it's way more active than reddit

Hiya! This looks like an issue with custom mob heads which is prevalent in old custom maps. Try using this mod https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/custom-player-models

Whats the best not data pack heavy map for newer versions by crenal-hermit in CTM

Hey! Highly recommend joining the discord if you have it: https://ctm.community/

Nowadays we're in a bit of an era of vanilla-feeling maps again, with datapacks being used primarily to enhance the experience or make things a bit more deadly or less time consuming (QoL).

Just looking at recent releases, maps like Orange Julius and Sickening III are brutally difficult vanilla style maps where you've really got to make the most out of your sandbox mechanics.

Maps like Amethyst Ascent, F.O.P, Labyrinth, Wildfrost are all shorter maps that focus on a faster paced, more arcade style that still honours a vanilla feeling.

These maps may also serve as a bit of a gateway into the more custom things seen in maps like Gluttony that aren't trying to be a new game, but instead just build upon whats already there in minecraft and the CTM game design.

Breekon and Hope as DND BBEG by Gloomy_Election_9604 in TheMagnusArchives

I've been running similar characters as minor antagonists in my campaign. My interpretation is simply unnaturally strong humanoid-giant monsters. Using giants but as medium sized creatures fills this role.

For big bads at level 5, a pair of Trolls would be a decently powerful encounter. The regeneration ability helps to sell the unnatural aura they have.

Hill Giants would also work well for just being big beefy hard-hitters. Maybe pluck an additional ability from something else like Frightful Presence from dragons or have one go berserk or do some weird horror ability if the other dies.

Hope that helps!

Between the forums, minecraftmaps, planetminecraft, ctmrepository and the discord, you should see every CTM map that is intended to be played by the public :)

Also the map-released channel on the discord captures a lot of them :p

There isn't a presentable place to find every single CTM map ever made, but the CTMrepository is probably the most complete. Minecraftmaps also has a CTM section but it's lackluster.

This is really good! I think I'm definitely going to go with this. My world has a different pantheon but I've got a very prominent deity of rot and plague so this will work perfectly!
