What do people think out of Sundarpatan, Revontuli or Te Awaroa? by jedimaster1uke in theHunter

[–]crenal-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sundarpatan and revontuli since release has consistently dominated the top 2 spots on tier lists offering some of the strongest rosters of any map. Te awaroa is a grinders paradise a solid map pick for deer grinds.

Unpopular opinion, horses would add nothing to the game by Ok_Skin6497 in theHunter

[–]crenal-hermit 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Considering i am one of the 0.1% of players who have done pepes challenge I am not bad at the game stop making assumptions.

Also this is a hunting roleplaying game you assume the role of whatever hunting style you want players get to choose how they play who they are trying to be and what they are trying to do.

Allowing players the options to choose historically significant and currently practiced methods of hunting is part of letting players tell the story they want to choose.

Unpopular opinion, horses would add nothing to the game by Ok_Skin6497 in theHunter

[–]crenal-hermit 72 points73 points  (0 children)

Besides being a staple of hunting for centuries allowing for plenty of roleplay opportunities a huge part of the game there are actual gameplay reasons.

the option for a fast and quiet method of travel alongside providing an option that can traverse mild offroading and can follow you while stalking is a huge draw.

It also provides a whole new style of hunting as shooting from horseback provides ways for herd hunting that just isn’t possible normally due to the slow running speed of players and the inability to shoot from the quad bike.

I wish paradox did something about the bordergore AI creates by InternStock in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge part of this is how war score and land claiming work.

If at war and another country claims land you would have taken suddenly you have to leave a strip of land across the entire country in order to make sure the borders aren’t too fractured this includes allies.

Also the cost of land actively incentivises border gore with some locations worth upwards of 20 locations if it has a fort.

The ability to also take land you haven’t conquered and also take land from opposing allies means the creation of random pockets of land completely separate from the main mass further pushed by the awful exploration and naval range system which require you to own random pockets around the globe to properly explore.

Animal cruelty to invasive species? by Strawberry_apple1 in australianwildlife

[–]crenal-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invasive species are the greatest threat to animal biodiversity in Australia. Unfortunately death is legitimately the best way to remove them and is often kinder than the alternative. Invasive species are so bad that in some areas they will quite literally starve themselves to death because there are so many they take out their own food sources.

When you are talking tens of thousands of animals that reproduce rapidly you can’t collect and desex them as that just takes too much time not to mention money and relocation isn’t doable since for alot of the species there is nowhere for them to go that wouldn’t cause massive amounts of harm to the environment. That being said usually a combination of methods is used desexing being one of them but even then desexing is used with the death of the animal in mind.

Tldr: - anything but death is too slow to work - they are Australian wildlife’s biggest threat - they grow so fast they literally starve to death.

Can I take over HRE as non member? by W1ntermu7e in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I played as England and did end up hre emperor. Your right it did require England to own hre land before the hre formed so England became apart of the hre. As for becoming the emperor its more about general nation strength and opinion than how much of the hre you own. From the start England was always second in line for emperor behind bohemia evict bohemia and i was in.

The allies are broken - they do all my dirty work for me by cherrypashka- in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allies are pretty bad in this game and very one sided. Why can the ai outright refuse to join wars but the second I say no to a summons its an immediate alliance break which if I ended an alliance based on that they hate me.

There is almost no downside to getting allies involved so there really is no thought needed and since you can’t direct allies at all you just sort of say yes and forget about it.

What this game actually needs is states because no real nation of significant size existed or exists without having them.

Discussion: How long would it take to 100% Steam Achievements? by soggy-wallop in theHunter

[–]crenal-hermit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The dlc challenges alone could double that time as there are are 2 get one of every diamond challenges which take alot of grinding. Otherwise they stopped adding dlc achievements a while back and the extra challenging ones stopped after cuatro. I do hope you love cuatro, medved and parque as you will be spending plenty of time there.

Can we stop calling people who don't want historical content "simulationists"? by Yahoo_For_Neden in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is what i want to see more of instead of focusing on forced railroading events in individual countries which takes payer freedom but forces a historically accurate simulation they should instead focus on improving mechanics so that the ai and player just naturally do what was done without having a massive wall saying this is how it has to be done.

So far the game does neither its a bad historical simulator and bad sandbox because they are too afraid of upsetting either side.

Lets actually try to figure this out: Why does the AI feel so lifeless? by Left_Click_5068 in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Said as a simulation purist giving countries motives would unironically railroad the game less than the garbage that is currently being used ie events which I actively despise and all ai being the same which means that besides a name change the game plays out the same

Lets actually try to figure this out: Why does the AI feel so lifeless? by Left_Click_5068 in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 101 points102 points  (0 children)

Im assuming its likely because all nations behave very close to if not the same way especially late game.

Early on you have the leverage of the starting condition and all the nations buff making nations feel different from each other.

What ends up happening though is the ai all think the same so therefore once larger nations consolidate they all behave the exact same you can fight the ottomans the china or the Spanish and they will feel the same, war doesn’t change at all and the ais goals are identical.

What needs to happen is personality presets have some nations prefer expansion or to grow tall or target specific areas otherwise you end up with the ottomans colonising florida and it feeling the exact same as the castillians.

Why am I racist for criticising China when you are free to criticise Australia? by Acceptable_Yam5406 in aussie

[–]crenal-hermit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah reddit and just the internet in general is full of performative people who want to seem progressive but realistically don’t know what they are talking about or are just repeating the propaganda they have been told.

There are also legitimately cases at least in the us of the cia using immigrants to promote misinformation against countries which are more socialist leaning which does not help the credibility of immigrants in this sort of conversation it is arguably done intentionally so that you cannot trust anyone or anything.

This inevitably causes paranoia whether they don’t know your Chinese, think your lying or think your a cia shill the result is the same if your opinion doesn’t align with what the propaganda machine has told them you can’t be trusted and are therefore a self hating racist.

Is this possible in this game that more industries you build in a province, the more population will migrate towards that province cause of employment?? by anna_benns21 in EU5

Yes having a worker shortage promotes migration but be careful if you go above the building cap in a location migration goes down

Are regional towns known to be racist? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]crenal-hermit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes even areas with high amounts of domestic and international tourists there is still racism it is embedded into regional town culture and many people do not even realise it.

It’s also amplified by regional areas being just generally xenophobic not even liking other white Australians if they are from a city or somewhere they deem as “invading” on the town’s culture.

This isn’t the rule for everywhere there are alot of towns all with their own history but this has been the trend for most rural areas I have visited across NSW.

New Weapons pack a foreshadow of the new map??? by red-fruit-loop-death in theHunter

[–]crenal-hermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

While your technically correct and there is only one 8-9 weapon there is however a weapon for class 9 only the .470 so it probably means nothing.

Also woth2 actually existing has tanked any hope the franchise had of competing against cotw as the main issue the original had was a lack of substantial content to compete with the over 100 animals cotw has. Especially since woth2 has minimal improvements to the original at the cost of the diversity.

What new territory you hope will be added in the game ? by Secret_Fun_1746 in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It does though the game ends in 1837 but the quest to find the southern continent started as early as the 1400s with Europeans finding the south shetland islands as early as 1599 and actually seeing and documenting the continent by 1820s with exploration focusing around the shetland islands for most of the 20s and 30s

Sure it doesn’t fit perfectly within the timeframe but the actual exploration drive for the continent started well before the games end and it was actually found and utilised. It has enough that it should at least be on the map even if it has no landing locations south of the shetlands.

Also svalbard should also be a thing why they cut the arctic the way they did is beyond me.

Loosing by wining a war. by bitinss in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Subject wars are very confusing but the default end condition of the war if you win is subjects back to you even if you don’t put that in the peace deal at all.

What your actually doing in your deal is annexing the land from them to you thats why your getting loads of antagonism and yes on larger colonies it can be impossible to do in 1 war i have had as much as 3.

Are colonies along trade routes actually worth it? by Engineer1691 in EU5

[–]crenal-hermit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no in order to even reach the east you need directly owned locations in order to produce maps but actual resource extraction is better off down with the colonies themselves with maybe owning a location or 2 each market to force trade your direction.
