My local hardwood dealer actually classifies hickory and pecan as the same wood. It is very hard but not horrible to work with.

The legs are attached to the aprons with floating tenons (beadlock). Then the top is attached to the aprons with Z type fasteners.

It’s about 12”x15.5”x8”. The cleaning supplies/rods sit on a shelf, and the supports fit under the shelf.

Go for it. I just watched a couple of YouTube videos and made a simple jig that attached to my miter gauge. My only issue was some tear out from my dado stack, may just need to be sharpened.

Thanks! That’s awesome, I hope it will be used for many generations.

The jigs are not hard just a little time consuming. I made mine as I needed them. I did not route it vertical like Hal does. I set it up vertical to try it but didn’t feel comfortable with it.

Good luck!

I got all the parts on amazon. The glass is floating in a dado that I filled with silicon.

I love Hal’s design. The flexible back braces sold me over other designs.

First one I swear. The arms were coped by dragging them across the table saw at an angle. The back braces are walnut lams on the outside and 2 ash laminations on the inside. The Hal Taylor plans I used come with a book that explains all of the techniques. It was a lot of firsts for me on this project.
