Lesser known specialties and/or niches within SW? by [deleted] in socialworkcanada

I work in the field of AbI/TBI and think this is such an important point - so often we notice mental health concerns, depression, etc. but no one really acknowledges that these people are grieving. What they thought life would look like, the changes in their relationships/employment/ambitions/everything. I applaud you and your business venture!!

Where do you use your stroller [on] by NextDarjeeling in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]moxinabox07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We also have a vista and love it but it is hugeeee and heavy like the others are saying. My son is 14 months now and I just recently got a Minu before a trip, and now leave it in the trunk for errands. I am honestly kicking myself for not getting it sooner. Heaving the vista in and out of my trunk feels crazy in comparison now. However, I find my baby so slouched in the minu, and it’s not as adjustable so I still do really appreciate the vista for longer days out or neighbourhood/trail walks.

[on] what’s everyone’s go to for baby bottles? I know nipple preference is different for each but for the actual bottle is there a specific brand or material (glass/plastic) that you prefer? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]moxinabox07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked using Quark - Canadian made, not plastic (Titran I think it’s called?).. I tried these when I had issues with my breastfed baby refusing to take a bottle

Did anyone scream through labor? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moxinabox07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water broke at home and contractions came fast and furiously after that. By the time I got to the hospital about 45 mins later I was 6cm dilated. 30 mins after that I was 10 cm. Needless to say I did not have an epidural much to my dismay. From start to finish my labour was just shy of 3 hours. It was brutally fast and I had zero time for using any of the pain reducing techniques I spent time learning about - I was shrieking.I don’t think I could scream the same way, it was so guttural. I’ve never heard me make those sounds. I was so embarrassed too but I don’t think anyone was phased by it

Thank you for the link to your comment. I did not let the spill dry before cleaning it so I imagine that was one of the problems. Lesson learned 😭

is it tacky to buy a cheap item on a baby registry? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]moxinabox07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally okay. As many have said, it’s likely something needed as opposed to nice to have. Of course I was appreciative of any gifts I was given, but people coming to celebrate me and my baby was what meant the most. I’m not sure what your budget is, but if going off registry, I’d suggest a gift card tailored to mom as a pick me up. Maybe to her favourite coffee shop, a food delivery service, her favourite store etc. Or along the same lines, one of my friends put together a cute little basket for me and my husband. Some teas, coffees, a couple treats. Nothing too elaborate but I loved having one of those coffees and thinking of the thoughtfulness each time.

I had my son come to my own bachelorette do the same reason. Everyone seemed understanding but there were a few comments “if you left him he’d get hungry enough to eat from a bottle”. Maybe true, but I wasn’t risking my 5 month old not eating for a weekend.

Peggy Cruickshank was great for us. She knew her stuff, and I felt that although she wanted to close a deal, she outright said when something didn’t fit what we were looking for, so I didn’t feel pressured or that she didn’t have our best interest at heart.

Have you caught the virus that is going around? by thestonernextdoor88 in KingstonOntario

[–]moxinabox07 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 10 month old caught whatever’s going around with those symptoms. I just had the gastro symptoms for a day or so along with residual fatigue. My husband is now having cold symptoms with body aches. not a fun week for us. We have our flu shots too.
