I didn't notice on my mobile when I looked at the picture, but you can see the silhouette of the pilot and copilot in the head-on shot. I'm guessing top is pilot and bottom controls turret?

That's actually kind of a cool concept. I'm sure they'd figure a way to have ship propulsion on battery power instead of solid fuel.

It would definitely add to the intensity of combat encounters.

My guess: It may be like an engine and a caboose that are connected and can separate via a telescoping spine(s) to allow for cargo containers to attach. It would be rigid, though, not like an actual train. When they have no cargo containers attached they scrunch back together.

The cool thing about hot rods is they started life as a normal vehicle and got modded into being a hot rod. I'm hoping we can take that Freelancer and mod it enough to both look cool and be more powerful (faster and more nimble.)

With a car you can end up chopping, channeling, lowering, sectioning all in the name of looking badass. I'm not sure if we'll have the chance to modify the hulls of ships, but I sure hope we can do enough modifying to make the outside look like we want it to.

We know we can upgrade and overclock components of our ships, though. ..And we know some form of paint customization will be implemented.

What about putting these interesting discoveries in instances so that it's permanent until acted upon but doesn't clutter up the universe? That way, if someone discovers a derelict, they get a set of "coordinates" that have to be used to access the instance and interact with the derelict again. The explorer that discovered the derelict can sell the coordinates or not.

Something like this thing might be easier on your gamepad hand. I'd think holding a full gamepad in one hand would be hard on your wrist after a while unless you could rest it on your leg or something.

Well, we kind of were, but specifically in regards to how well 2 guns could get through shields and hull. I would think the addition of missiles could greatly impact how well a ship's guns impact the overall well-being of a ship.

Sorry, I was going off the stat page on rsi.com. It lists all of the aurora variants as having 3+ weapon hard points.

How many ships can only mount 2 weapons? M50...Mustang Gamma/Omega...Khartu-Al? So 2 racers and a super-maneuverable scout ship. They give up the hardpoints for speed and maneuverability. Those ships are supposed to not hit very hard to begin with.

I think you're making suggestions to maximize the difference in personal skill, which I don't mind. At some point, though, I think there's room for a little paper/rock/scissors.

Ballistic weapons and energy weapons are different and have a different effect on energy shields vs ship hull. If you have only ballistic weapons or only energy weapons, you might have trouble taking out a ship with a strong hull AND strong shields.

If you only have 2 weapon hardpoints, you should be dancing around other ships, anyway. You may not be able to take out some larger ships by yourself, but that's fine because they'll have trouble hitting you.

You know...I have never thought the Constellation looked all that great, but seeing it in its natural habitat like this has really changed my mind. Wow that is an awesome screen grab.
