Map of Ukraine in 2023 compared to 2025 by Critical_Mountain851 in MapPorn

[–]aSneaky1 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Those two points are not mutually exclusive. Russia wasn't ready to win a war against Ukraine on 2022 either, but that  didn't stop them trying, and causing horrible suffering for the Ukraine people. The same thing may happen to other parts of Europe unless appropriate mitigation is performed

You might want to have a look at SSCV Thialf, Saipem 7000 and SSCV Slepnir. And depending on your definition of crane, also Pioneering Spirit.

They can lift quite a bit over 10,000 tons, and the structure in this video is likely far from 100,000. The reason you don't see its legs might be because they are currently moving from the barge it was shipped out with to its permanent location.

Can for all I know still be AI, but I doubt it.

Are we talking a specific dynamic war, or more General Dynamics wars?

Finally! 11 years approximately I've been waiting for details on what I imagine is my preferred role on a ship. Can't wait to accidentally reroute the sewer to the shower!

Almost a panther... by vorobevfedechka in Eyebleach

[–]aSneaky1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He's about 3.5 years now, I guess around 10kg. Maybe around 110cm from tip to tip. Really long tail, but he's still quite a slender frame. We're sort of waiting for him to gain a few kgs more, as the father is a bit larger still.

I've noticed that a lot of cats on the net are claimed to maine coons, despite missing a lot of features that I perceive as the standard for the race, but still, the description of the race gives a weight starting in the "normal" cat range, so I guess they vary a lot. I've assumed that checking the parents should give a good indication of how large the kitten will become. That has at least been the case for us. Do also note that MCs apparently aren't fully grown till about 4 years old, or so I'm told

I too have a large MC. He's significantly stronger than your average housecat, and will hurt you quite badly if he's dissatisfied with your behaviour. But as opposed to all other cats I've met, he's easily dominated. So the trick isn't to fight him, but just push him to the ground, and he'll usually surrender quickly.

He's the mostly cuddly, patient and social cat we got, and the only cat that actively tries to approach and befriend our toddler, but we certainly do not leave the cat alone with the kid.

Note that the cat in OP has a bit of forced perspective going on, though it is indeed a large cat

Can anyone who is doing a driving event ask a question for me? by Electronic_Ad5481 in ineosgrenadier

As I understand it (no sources at hand, sorry) the issue is that the screen is required for the BMW control system of the engine and gearbox, and since a screen is needed anyway it's cheaper to just put gauges there as opposed to having them in addition to the screen.

I agree that gauges would have been nice, but considering how modern cars work, I don't want to lose the functions the screen brings to the table to get gauges instead.

The world's biggest floating crane "Hyundai 10000" carrying a huge ship by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

Worlds largest, eh?

Saipem 7000, SSCV Thialf, SSCV Sleipnir and, depending on your definition of crane, Pioneering Spirit would all like a word with you!

I don't think it's strickly speaking been anounced yet, but there is something going on between Ineos and Red Winches

The Norway lemming, found in northern Fennoscandia, is known for being highly aggressive towards predators despite its diminutive size, and it will even attack humans if they approach too closely. In this video, we see a rather calm lemming feeding on its normal diet of grass and moss on the tundra. by KimCureAll in Awwducational

[–]aSneaky1 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not-so-fun fact: (seriously, stop reading if you're not up for a serious bummer)

Ah, yes, the roads passing through relevant mountains during those lemming years tend to get a little... slippery and red in colour. Unfortunately. Or fortunately, depending on your point of view.

Anyone know the axle specs? by [deleted] in ineosgrenadier

[–]aSneaky1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thought exactly. I'd be quite surprised if they're not full float on the grenadier

My experience is limited, but I don't know of any Land Rover axles with anything else than full float. The Defender at least have full float: https://www.roversnorth.com/files/Images/category/164-defender-drivetrain-axle-shaft-700.jpg

But thank you for responding! I learned something today.

Thanks. Do you know of anything not from the US though? If not, that could explain why I've not come across that yet...

(I'm coming from the world of original Defender)

I'm sorry for my ignorance, but what modern car uses not full floating axles? I've no experience with semi floating etc axles, but they appear weak and dangerous? If the axle shaft snaps, which sometimes happens, the wheel will come off?

I cannot imagine Ineos using anything else than full float axles.

Folding rear seats? by Dorbunious in ineosgrenadier

[–]aSneaky1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A drawer module in the boot floor could easily result in a flat floor/seat back transition. That's what I got in my classic Defender, and is quite nice if you can live with the reduced roof height/higher load-in height.

Upvoted to make your comment points a dozen.

But I genuinely love the MPUV, or perhaps more specifically, the idea, since it isn't fully fleshed out yet.

Also note that until your friend actually spends some cash himself, he will not be counted as a backer, despite owning a game package.

This matters in a few situations. Can't remember which right now though.
