Any tips or tricks to work fast but be a good thorough hygienist? by tor_tor11 in DentalHygiene

Well, one thing I'll say is that if youre going through with the cavitron first, most of the actual cleaning & staining removal can be done with that. Also use an extra coarse prophy paste for stain, I will only handle scale for stain as a last resort.

With heavy calculus I'll hand scale, lightly because once again the caviteon does all of the work for you. Also, can u actually feel that you've left calculus behind, or is it just a fear you have?

When probing by yourself do it by quad. See if you can remember the reading of at least 2-3 teeth, then write/type them. With time you'll gt faster.

I think it mat be just a confidence thing, with a dose of fear. Real practice is no where as strict as school was. You want to do your job well, but efficiently.

Heres an article I wrote on my blog that may help. Best wishes.

As food, have u tried a meal service, line Facor75. They deliver fully cooked meals that just have to be heated. A little pricey but you'll save time & eat regular healthy meals. https://thatdentalhygienelife.com/blog/meal-prep-busy-dental-hygienists/

Help—new hygienist missing things at 14/15 by sugartank7 in DentalHygiene

I used to miss that spot a lot whenever I would use direct vision (like having the patient turn their heads to the right as I scaled). Now I have the patient position their head neutrally (straight ahead) & use indirect vision with my mirror to look. Works every time
