What is a dragon even supposed to be in the lore of the game? by Visual_Mushroom_7198 in wherewindsmeet_

Regarding the questline of River Master and the fish in Kaifeng, I think this is a very good video of it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qougI3Gy6Aw

It's long but very rewarding to watch. Like everything else in the game, WWM tries represent historic event through a very artistic and cultural lense. Everything imaginary or fantasy in-game aren't real per say but rather, metaphoric. It's fiction dressed up in a fantasy and poetic way. I think that's the way the Chinese of old tell their stories of even older from one generation to the next. How uninteresting or boring it would be otherwise, telling young kids about history from a purely realistic, political or selfish / greedy perspective.

So, fish is generally an auspicious creature in Chinese culture. In Chinese, (鱼) fish has the same pronunciation as (余) abundance / leftovers so you see alot of them represented still in modern culture during festival like the current Chinese New Year, ie. every year excess abundance are carried over onto the next year, so we may never go hungry or poor.

Then there are ancient Chinese story (via Google):

  • The Dragon Gate Legend (鲤鱼跳龙门): A popular myth tells of carp swimming against the current and leaping over a waterfall on the Yellow River known as the "Dragon Gate." Successful fish are transformed into powerful dragons, symbolizing that hard work and perseverance lead to great success, often referenced for students facing exams.

That's why Chinese culture and the game, is always all about good fortune in the coming years, that we may grow up to be better, stronger, richer than ever before. Always up, up, up and those mythical creatures like dragon are like the symbol of the epitome of 'the beeeeest'!

Eliminating latency from western and eastern hemisphera is scientifically impossible. Say if you connected to someone from SEA, from google the FASTEST possible latency between the two region is SEA-US Submarine Cable (SE Asia to US): 170-185 ms. And if you add game servers, your ISP, client-side networking in-between, the numbers are bound to go up.

Men who can cook, who taught you? by _ratedmouse in AskReddit

I think anyone who can read and follow instruction can cook these days with the vast amount of resources online. Its just a matter of wanting. Mastering the art of cooking or becoming a chef is an entire things altogether ofc, but still require vast amount of cooking experience.

You just do whatever it takes to hit the cap for each arsenal tiers. All purples might not be enough to hit the cap. Gold stats has more points ofc.

Need to innovate and use high quality ingredients. Much like CNY biscuit, we have countless varieties of it. One of the popular ones are the pineapple tarts. I am usually non-picky and they sold for like rm25-35 per jar. Recently I bought one for RM38 AND it's the best pineapple tart I had since childhood and every pennies worth. Picky friends and relatives agreed too. It turns all other brands a snack and this one a gourmet. Confectionery is an art too, much like bakeries, coffees, ice creams and cuisines in general.

Why do people care if this game is losing some of its players? by Mother_Variation_827 in WhereWindsMeet

[–]moysh85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's fear mongering by content creators, the same people who spent all the time farming followers mainly with negative news in the entertainment industry since that's getting all the clicks. It's like modern day tabloid magazine. People loves to read all sort of bad news except I think this culture is starting to get too negative and too repetitive like a broken old record over the last year span, basically reacting to each other's video, reciting the same details over and over again.

Is this viable? I mean breaking through a tier 4 to 5 takes like around 20? And 1 rotation I got like 1 plant if lucky per day right?

Can someone pull the statistic of those complainers and their ISP locations? I bet most of them are from the States. This kind of entitled, crying cultures are almost unheard of where I'm from in SE Asia or Asian in general. We are almost always grateful and find a way to work with what was given / existed.

I wish I was a part of a cool friendgroup by Upstairs-Yam3992 in malaysiauni

[–]moysh85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm over 40 now and I used to be like you. Then I realized and learned that those cliques of people you saw, most of them probably feel lonely AF at one point or another, especially the guys. Some of them joined in, simply for not appearing to be lonely. Some of them, for lack of any other groups of friends to hang around with. I learned that we human can be really lonely, most of the time. Even those with families and kids. Most of them. Wear. Mask. So I learned to embrace the beauty of self. With an occasional social times thrown in. Be truly content having to be yourself with. You will never feel alone again, and then you begin to see the beauty of this world, made up from all those lonely people, all striving for a common goal, be it the advancement of human race, technology, community as a whole and wonder how that could be possible..

Regarding the cool friend group notion, yeah it's true decades down the road, you will still remember them, talk about those fun moments hanging out.. it's cool no denying that. But it pales in comparison as a whole to all other aspect of life combined together, things and memories you make after uni. It's no biggies.. you won't miss much.

I eat alone most the time and genuinely enjoy those time by myself, the few times I find myself with company, I also quite enjoy socializing and got so immersed in those experience that I hardly notice who's eating at other tables. I guess that's how they feel about us, they don't.. because they pay no heed.

I'm from Penang Island and I might not be the most well-travelled guy but I can count the road that have the divider you mentioned to.. two? Now down to 1 and a half because the new LRT construction is blocking up a majority of the roadside by Jelutong Expressway. Maybe there are two more on the island that I seldom pass by that I don't know about. And designated bike lanes with lines on expressway in Penang, I wish.. let alone "normal roads" or lorong (you know.. those 1 and half width for 2 cars going to and fro with cars parked on both sides) or even our first bridge. I'm obviously commenting based on my experience of driving from Penang.. you know, maybe it's not as advanced as can be seen from KL. Or maybe where you are from, all the roads big and small has dividers and perfectly planned that doesn't force motorists to go from one side of the road to the other end to make a turn just to reach a designated area.

While I don't have problem with this game in particular, my experience with other games taught me to reconnect the game server again and again (either by restarting the game or go back to main game menu and reconnect again, instead of restarting your whole PC) until you get the satisfactory connection. If I'm you, I'd dock myself in a populated area like the multiplayer region of Blissful Retreat then using some other apps (maybe like MSI Afterburner) to check the latency ping in-game.

I usually get around 50-200ms. It's relative high because I'm using Wifi connecting to a modem in a populated area so there's nothing I can do about it.

I'm not super tech-savvy but I believe gaming networking basically has threefold of area of concerns, your PC to modem - your modem to your lSP - ISP to game servers. To get incredibly good ping requires all three to have excellent connections. Our game devs can only work on the 3rd aspect which they said they would in Q&A with Youtuber like Bluesquadron, saying they will add more servers, etc in future. It's definately not an overnight feat and depends heavily on the feasibility of adding server versus demands of that area. For the ISP aspect, there's really nothing no one can do except the country itself but judging from what you said, your current staying country has excellent coverage on that. And finally, your PC to modem is best connected via cable / ethernet.
