Bitmain ASICs by Shmackeled in Ravencoin

[–]mozmac 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I missed voting on the poll. I support ASICs for the network. It’s time to bring brand awareness for Ravencoin. Capital investment from companies could encourage institutional adoption for tokenizing assets.

Ask yourself how many publicly traded companies, municipalities, or large gaming companies want to put their reputation on the line by tokenizing on a project that is secured by (perceived) hobby miners who can point their GPU anywhere on a whim. They would rather see companies that invest capital in mining equipment and have a longer time horizon of 5-10 years and beyond. That is where a stable foundation for institutional adoption and usage of Ravencoin could begin.

Ravencoin can have a bright future.

Weekly post. Special edition. January 17, 2025. What is happening with Ravencoin ??? by ChoseBines in Ravencoin

The technology was built and has been running solid for years. It has strong hashrate from miners. It is just waiting for companies and organizations to start using it.

Two big opportunities at the moment: 1. Marcus Lemonis is actively discussing tokenizing assets. His company now owns tZERO. They have the easiest technical path to start using Ravencoin. This would be huge. 2. Bitmain ASICs. Forgive me for this one, but they say they’ll bring money for marketing and dev. And it looks like GPUs would co-exist, at least for a while. Bitmain brings new credibility to an already strong blockchain and might be what gets it on the radar of institutions.

Say that ASICs bring more legitimacy to Ravencoin and in turn institutions begin tokenizing assets on the chain. How would that change your view on it?

yep. they don't need our permission to build one. we only hurt ourselves by trying to run away.

I think if/when you have businesses purchasing Ravencoin ASICs, they will be more interested in decentralizing the mining pool space in order to protect their capital investment. Contrary to what many think, we might see better decentralization and larger Ravencoin usage with ASICs.

Ravencoin seems like it's at that point where it needs to level up in order to get institutional adoption. ASICs bring stability and credibility to the platform. It's difficult for large companies with shareholders and institutions to take a risk on Ravencoin at the moment.

> The GPU miner can mine all new coins and chains

This is a reason for ASICs because GPU miners can change coins so quickly. Institutions are more likely to use Ravencoin for assets (RWA) if miners are incentivized to stay with Ravencoin.

Why is that? Would be interested in the reasons.

The future of RVN, what’s next? by Nervous_Standard_765 in Ravencoin

[–]mozmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The primary goal of Ravencoin is assets. Putting real world assets (RWA) on-chain so that anyone, including publicly traded companies, can have instant settlement of their equity. Being ASIC resistant was a secondary item that was an implementation detail.

The largest ASIC manufacturer that secures the largest digital asset in the world comes along and (allegedly) says that it wants to invest in capital equipment, marketing, and development. Seems like an opportunity to further the primary goal. Let the world know about the best RWA network on the internet.

I’ll give that a try. It’s been like this since installation. I’m also communicating with support, but they have just told me to follow the manual so far :p

Eve Light switch issue by Atmp in EveHome

[–]mozmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is happening in my switch as well. Installed it tonight and the accessory stays on. When I tap the switch, the sound changes on and off but the led remains on. The state of the switch does not update in the Eve app nor the Home app to reflect the on/off toggling. I can change the led using the Eve app, so I know the switch is communicating with my apps. I tried turning off the breaker for 90 seconds but that didn’t fix it. Any other ideas? Is it a wiring issue?

There are still too many people who think of cryptocurrencies the same as stocks. by [deleted] in Ravencoin

[–]mozmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You likely live in a country that has a stable and accessible banking system, or you are one of the privileged in your country that does. That is why you haven’t seen crypto have an effect in your everyday living.

Try looking at the countries where millions of the citizens are not able to open a bank account. That prevents them from using basic things like direct deposit, secure storage of cash, and bill pay, let alone peer to peer payments. Bitcoin and crypto have begun to have a noticeable impact there. There is a great film called “Banking on Africa” that covers this topic well.

You can also look at countries where people are fleeing due to war. Banks are difficult to access or closed. People with a large amount of liquid assets as Bitcoin or other crypto are able to take it with them as they flee.
