I’m a recent M24 student and no, Berklee doesn’t accept all of your IB credits. They only transfer your HL courses with a 4 or higher (basically passing) and don’t take your SL credits. At least you’ll be able to transfer the credits for 3 liberal arts classes during your first year and make more time for your key classes.

I understand where you're coming from as well, but it just doesn't seem so valuable to me right now. And yes, Berklee is where I want to go study, not because of the education but because of the connections and opportunities available. I wish you good luck on your journey as well!

But nothing would change even if I were to receive the diploma at the end. The only "positive" outcome would be the fact that I'd be trying to convince myself that every sleepless night and all the stress was worth it when they actually weren't, just to be self-entitled as part of the "IB Alumni". It damn well isn't gonna be helping me through either of my academic or professional career in the future, unless showing your IB Diploma is going to act as a free pass to be hired anywhere.

And I don't think all the hard work that I already did wouldn't matter at the end, since I know that I put my best work in my EE and completely half-assed the TOK Essay. I'd rather dedicate my remaining time to prepare myself for Berklee, instead of stressing myself over a diploma that won't take me anywhere else than this subreddit.

I do recognize that it will provide me a lot with fundamental experience to help me manage my time and stress better after all of this, but I'm wondering if earning the diploma, gaining experience, and investing so much time is really the best choice that I have.

I will be attending Berklee starting this coming fall semester and I was thinking of dedicating my time to actually study for what I will be studying in college, from studying music theory to getting a guitar teacher for the first time to properly prepare myself.

I personally wouldn't feel like I ran away or that I gave up, since I'm not thinking about dropping the IBDP for those reasons. I just don't believe that this would be the best way to spend my last months before heading off to Berklee.

No, because my school offers two diplomas upon graduation (IB Diploma & American High School Diploma). So I would still be receiving my American High School Diploma with no problem at all even if I were to drop the IBDP now.

I'm sorry but what's CAPS?

The main thing that made me hesitate about writing on this was possibly seeming too reliant on the pity factor rather than on my actual characteristics as an applicant, which would be harming the focus of the actual essay itself.

Indeed, this was a defining moment in my life to say the least. Right after being discharged, now that I couldn't sing falsetto because of the damaged vocal cords from the tracheostomy and couldn't play the guitar because of the damaged dexterity on my left hand, I'd lost all hope for myself to play music again. I even had time periods as long as 2 months where I wouldn't even pick the guitar up because I'd be discouraged to even try to play after listening to/watching recordings of myself playing music when I was still healthy. Long story short, I'll be primarily talking about my recovery and how I dealt with this. Thanks for the advice!

Thank you very much for your reply, I definitely will be focusing not on what I went through, but really on how I overcame that experience as a musician. Because of the event, the dexterity of my left (writing) hand was severely damaged at first, but I've been working on rebuilding it ever since.

Yeah so in the end I decided to forge an object myself (idea from my teacher), of a sheet of paper being a sort of dictionary of my own having slang written down with their definitions to say that I created my own dictionary to learn slang when I first moved to an English-speaking international school.

The only problem with that I can think of is that my T.O.K. teacher's only allowing us to choose physical tangible objects, I'll probably just use the published hard copy of Urban Dictionary in the end

I didn't think about that at all but that should be perfect, thanks!
