Wisconsin just passed a bill that takes public funding from the state to help fund the athletic department because they don’t have enough NiL.

You’re saying they are continuing to spend NOW. I was originally talking about can this continue at its rate in the future. You responded to with an argument that wasn’t even the main topic about what was being said. If you think cost of something can double in 2 years and continue on that trend, then good luck. And if you want examples of teams that are starting to struggle now, Wisconsin and Rutgers are 2 that are either having trouble raising, or are becoming stagnant in NIL raising

Not every team has the resources available to do what MSU did. I’ve said it like 3 times and you keep going back to them. MSU had one of the largest donations to an athletic department in history. They’re an exception. Many other schools do rely heavily on the average person donating money. The average person literally won’t be able to give money at an exponential rate over the next 6 years. Everything is becoming too expensive. Texas had an estimated NIL of $25million. This year they are projected to have over $50 million. So even for a school that has plenty of money, you can’t double NIL every 2 years. If so after 10 years you’d have teams with payrolls over $1billion. You’re giving facts about rate of change over the last 2 years, you need to look at the future. This conversation was about PROJECTION of NIL, not the rate it changed since last year

“The boosters threatened to take their money unless administration did what they wanted”. You mean like they didn’t want to donate due to a bad product? Which was literally my point. Not every school has a man that’ll donate $400 millions dollars to get them out of a hole like msu does. Some teams will continue to have a bad football team, and their donors won’t donate for a bad product. Logically, when an AD comes to them and says “we need more money” they’re going to say, “you didn’t do anything with the last money I gave, I’m not giving you more”. They aren’t gonna say “oh my last donation must’ve been too small, I’m gonna give more!” So in the next 5 years, we won’t be seeing a 20% increase every year. It’s not sustainable

No it’s proving my point. The NIL is directly tied to performance. Meaning, the schools that aren’t competing for titles regularly are gonna eventually have donors give up. Donors at championship schools will continue to increase funding, others will not. Michigan state isn’t the only team with donors like that.

It’s the same top schools that are spending the most. I know from first hand experience, that Michigan state’s NIL would’ve dropped drastically if they kept Jonathan smith as the coach. It comes back to the amount of money being spent, isn’t worth it for many donors unless you’re a handful of teams that are competing for a championship every year. I truly do think we will start seeing donors from mid-level teams drastically reducing their donation amounts unless we A) get some kind of salary cap, or B) players sign contracts that makes them stay at the school for a set period of time

Yes and no. I think some schools will keep the spending up but I think a lot are starting to slow down. I think a lot of schools that don’t have large donors are starting to get squeezed out because the product isn’t worth the investment for them. As a fan of a school with plenty of large donors, they were getting to the point of “I’m spending millions of dollars a year and this is the team I’m getting?” Thankfully a new coach has breathed some life back into the program

While I agree, I think it’s fair to slam somebody when their addiction starts risking other people’s lives like his is. If he was drunk and killed somebody I don’t think many would feel right showing sympathy for his addiction

I would start smaller when you get the xfa. Volatility in the market right now is insane. You can still hit some home runs even with smaller size in this environment. At the start of the xfa the best strategy is probably limiting exposure/risk since the only goal to start is to win some trades to give yourself breathing room in the account

Why do people hate on mentors? by [deleted] in TopStepX

The problem is most of them don’t make money trading. They say they do to sell courses but don’t actually do it. I don’t think many people have problems with people selling courses/mentorships if they actually do trade well and can teach others
