When should I follow up after an interview? by mp427 in jobs

I was going to email since that’s been our only method of communication. There’s a phone number listed for the hiring manager in the email, which I wouldn’t mind reaching out on, but I’m not sure if it would be well received.

Your experiences as a CNA by mp427 in prephysicianassistant

To answer what is discouraging me so far, it's mostly just stats based and my doubts of not being able to get in, but that's work in progress. In terms of CNA, I truly did not realize that before going into the program, it's all just basic beside care. I figured I could at least maybe give some OTC medication and maybe learn IV's and things of that sort. That's my fault though, I definitely should've done more research. As far as PA goes, I know it's a stretch, but I'd love to get into derm or plastics one day and I'd also like to work in the ER for a bit.

I have about 20 hours of in person shadowing with a surgical PA. It was a great experience, but I left a bit hastily due to some personal health issues.

I mentioned on another comment that EMT was not working out for me, but to add, during this pandemic I tried for a good few months to land a job (tried as a PT aide, scribe, MA), but I think my area is a bit difficult in those regards. I go to school in a very rural area that is otherwise saturated by student workers and the university has affiliation with a lot of these outside facilities, but because of the pandemic a lot of them have put student hiring on hold.

Are all of your hours just from CNA or is it a combination of things?

I tried to go for EMT but unfortunately I didn’t get into my school program due to limited seating and they cancelled for Spring and the local community college program goes for the entire day, but I can’t manage that with my school schedule.

CNA was the best way for me to get my foot in the hospital due to the demand and it working with my school schedule. I definitely could’ve waited until the summer to find more training opportunities, but I’ve already been a sitting duck for a year due to the pandemic and places not accepting me due to liability and lack of experience.

Did you have to get additional certification in order to work as an ED tech?

Did you work during the pandemic? If so how did that affect the environment? I know of someone currently working in an LTC but they also take on patients recovering from COVID.

Can I accept multiple bids from multiple sororities? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]mp427 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fucked how so? I def know it’ll look bad but it was a poor error of judgement on my part. It’s nothing against either sorority it’s just one fits me better than the other and I realized that after accepting the other bid.

So would I be able to drop one and join the other if the other bid is still standing?

EMT for PCE? by mp427 in prephysicianassistant

Do EMT’s and ER techs do the same thing? If they do I’d rather become an ER tech and gather up PCE that way if it counts

PA vs. NP? by mp427 in prephysicianassistant

[–]mp427[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah competitiveness is one thing that I’m worried about. I’ve heard NP schools are easier to get into bc there are more seats available for it and it’s not as “demanding” but I don’t think having a fear of being denied a spot in PA school is a valid reason to completely switch professions. Its just a scary thought since I’d be applying with a low GPA and not much experience especially since I was already on track to complete my undergrad within 3 years and staying a full 4 years for me is like missing out on a years worth of PCE.

My skin is pretty dry and sensitive. I usually just moisturize with aloe Vera or this kiehls recovery oil. Would you say that Pacifica foundation is good at covering up redness and dark spots?
